Default Transfer case_can I still drive the car?

As luck would have it, Trans case went out after the 10 year warranty expired. In addition my air bellows need to be replaced. Porsche quoted more than my 2012 w 135k miles is worth to fix all the problems. So I am driving the car for now while I figure out my next move. Can I just keep driving w the transfer case issue if I'm willing to deal with the acceleration annoyance? Sounds like it's 5k to fix the T.C. appreciate any words of wisdom.

Have you tried doing a fluid change on the TC ? usually helps or at least minimizes the symptoms.

If you have some skill you can rebuild the tc or people on here can do it for you. In the interim, juet unplug it. You get a dash warranty buy will eliminate the jerking/hesitation

Flush the TC a few times with Ravenol DTF1. If it doesnt improve, buy a TC from FCPEuro and drop it/install it yourself? Or get a private mechanic to do it. Will need somebody to code the new module. Included lifetime warranty.

Thank you. You gentleman are amazing. I owe all contributors a beer. I will provide a update after I employ some of these strategies! Thanks for the leg work on the pricing!

2017 CS. 20K miles
I was driving home during a 500 mile road trip and symptoms started. Noticed it pulling into/out of gas station. Backing out of parking spot, full turn on wheel. Jerky motions. Rough shifting 2,3,4 gears.
Drove home as usual. Called dealer , next available time was 4 weeks out. Drove it , but short trips for a month. Made the 90 mile trip to dealer OK. Symptoms never got much worse. Dealer never told me not to drive it , so I just did. I knew it was covered under warranty tho.

Man, FCP Euro is a fantastic idea. Not a bad price at all and peace of mind forever w/ the warranty.

the symptoms are "thump thump thump" sound / feeling upon acceleration. At the very first I thought i was driving over a road that was being repaved but soon realized that was not the case. You cant miss it. The symptoms dont change.

I think I am developing the same thing, albeit pretty subtle so far. I too thought it was imperfections in the road but is happening too frequently. My thump/thunk seems to be right after shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Is this consistent with yours when you first noticed it?

yes. One easy way to tell. From a stopped position, crank the steering wheel and accelerate. It should be obvious. But the symptoms are the thump thump thump in the first few gears. At full speed on highway, it goes away.

Those were my symptoms. Dealer replaced under warranty.

I only get a thunk when changing from 1st to 2nd at like 3 mph when pulling out of my drive in reverse and then starting to move forward. I can't work out if this is normal or an early sign. I've changed the fluid and no change.

What do the position of the tires have to do with it?
