Time for Brakes on 2015 CD
My CD just turned 46,000 miles. I had my tires rotated, balanced, and aligned yesterday. They told me I am very close to needing brakes (no light yet). I am going to go ahead and replace them, but I would appreciate input as to what to put on the car. I don't want to put Porsche OEM on, but do want quality for stopping, etc.

Zimmerman rotors are the go to OEM replacement.
Pads depends on what you value most, low dust, stopping power, etc… I have Pagid and they’re comparable to OEM. Some people here have gone with ceramic pads to cut down on dust and reported little difference in braking ability.

in the shop we use serbo rotors which are oem but zimmies are good to. id advise caution with ceramics as ive installed them on my own car and i feel they are not the same brake feel. i use powerstop z23 and id say try the z17. if local to pa 19040 id be happy to perform the service for you at very competitive rates for being a fellow renlist member.

I recently put Powerstop Z23s on and only difference compared to OEM I’ve noticed is no brake dust.

If I was close, I would take ypu up on it.

Zimmerman rotors and Pagid pads. As close to OEM as you're gonna get and that's what your should be striving for. Also, I just shod the CTT with Sebro Front rotors and they are not the same as the Zimmerman's. Pay for the Zimmermans, they are nicer in every way.
Just say no to Ceramic Pads for your Cayenne. They weren't designed to run them and performance is reduced. Granted if you just putt around the city then it won't make too much of a difference but why not keep your Porsche driving like a Porsche.

- Ceramic brake pads are usually the most expensive friction option.
- Less bite than semi-metallic brake pads and less suitable for extremely cold climates.
- Possible higher braking system temperatures due to less heat absorbency than other friction materials.
- Not recommended for severe-duty applications like hauling, requiring greater pressure on the system to get the same stopping power as under regular driving conditions.
- Ceramic brake pads can create excessive rotor wear if rotors are not the same high quality as the brake pads themselves. This is why it’s important to make sure that the entire braking system on the vehicle is made up of parts that are engineered to work together.

I am definitely going to use Zimmerman rotors. The Powerstop Z23's are a "carbon finer ceramic." Does that put them in the "ceramic" category, and thus, should I avoid them?

Ok, so it looks like you're not using FCP as they don't sell Powerstop, and yes, the Z23's are ceramic pads.
If it were me, I'd be ordering from FCP and installing Zimmerman and Pagid. That's my go to to keep my car as Genuine as possible without paying the P tax, Period! I'm not a fan of reduced performance over clean wheels. For me it's Form follows Function?
You've been in this forum a while, get on the FCP train. I just finished my brakes on the Cayenne Turbo and the cost would have ben $1,300 if it wasn't for FCP, which made it $80 for the shipping of my old parts back to them.

I’m surprised at needing brakes at 46,000 . I had 110,000 on my 2014 diesel and still had over 50% brakes left. I have over 90,000 on my 2015 diesel with ceramics and the brakes are like new. And yes I do tow with the Cayenne

We just replaced our fronts for the second time at 112k miles, but the rears were done at about 55k and still going strong.
