I'd be interested to find out what part and brand clutches being used starting 2018. Also, if that's the case, why wouldn't they just drop these clutches in all cars covered by the 10year extended warranty?

Does anyone know if the transfer case that is the subject of this thread includes the updated, reinforced clutches?

Been a month now, hope there was a resolution. Real curious if the OP ever received a replacement case after the shipping mishap with the first case. Also, if received and installed, how is the case functioning?

unfortunately it’s now on back order and price is $2600 at fcp euro. I do love their lifetime parts policy though.

OK, I did get a replacement sent that arrived equally poorly packed but not damaged.

Took 3 weeks after arrival back at partsgeek but the returned item was refunded.

Installed the item and it seems to work. BUT...I did not know that '11-'12 need to be programmed/coded with PWIS. Ugh. My indy is scheduled to do this next week.

Whaaaat??!!!
What are you programming? Can't the electronic part be moved from case to case?
Looks like it's just on the outside of the case, based on this image.

Where are you located anyway?

I believe you are just coding the unit to the car. Read the pdf I linked to, it notes some numbers on the case that need to be put in. And no tool can do this besides the PWIS.

And it also notes that only 11-12 need this, later years are plug and play.

And the unit came filled and with the actuator on it, you don't use your old actuator.

in the pdf I link to later, it states that the car should not be driven far or over 50km an hour with it unplugged as it could damage 'bearings in the transfer case'.

Sorry to hear about the programming requirement, that's annoying, especially since the later cars don't require it.

I am seriously considering going this route, any tips or suggested tools to use on prying the drive shafts off the splines on the transfer case?

No, big pry bar wedged against the obvious pads on the case

UPDATE

OK, yay!. I have my car back.

Programming went fine. Only billed me 1 hour. And finally have the car driving as I remember when I first got it. Really nice, no stuttering or slipping at all.

So, if you can get the case for $1,500 like I did. I would say go for it.
