Has anyone tried a Quick drain oil plug ?
My friend brought over his Subaru wrx to use my lift for an oil change and he has had a quick drain oil plug for 9 years with no issues. This would be a great resolution to our engines draining all over the car. I’m going to get one and see how it works. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it.

I use one from Femco. Get the lowest profile one you can since there's almost no space between the drain and the underbody plastic.
Also, Femco sells 90-degree drain tubes, if you use the 90 degree ones you can change your oil without removing the rear underbody panel...at least on a V8 Cayenne. The V6's might have a slightly more forward drain location.s
edit: here's the thread i made: https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...hanges-v8.html

I’ve thought about doing this too as taking off the underbody plastic is the worst part of changing the oil. My ski boat had a rubber hose connected to the drain plug that you snake down through the hull making oil changes a breeze. I’ve considered adding a drain valve with a short hose then cutting a round access hole in the underbody panel to fit a round marine inspection hatch something like this:
The hatch would need to be big enough to reach in, grab the hose, and turn the valve. I’ve read good comments about Fumoto drain valves. Will have to research Femco. Thoughts?

I dont think Fumoto makes a low profile enough plug. The drain bolt is already at one of the the lowest points on the car and points straight down (V8, unsure about V6's). A fumoto valve would add another inch. I dont think you'll even get the underbody panels back on w/o cutting a hole if you use a fumoto.
As for that hatch thing. I think the V8 drain plug falls right between the overlap of the front and rear underbody panels....so I don't think it'll work. Honestly, if you made a 2-3 inch hole there's no reason to put a hatch in. That hole won't cause any problems

Now if someone could figure out a way to R&R the filter without getting oil everywhere…

@reneeweiss For the diesel, changing oil is an easy procedure from above. Cartridge is there, dipstick tube is there. Get a vacuum assisted extractor, never crawl underneath again to change oil...

I have used this with great success on my 2013 PCD - https://www.fumotousa.com/f106sx.html
with the tube adapter a few years ago. Oil change is quick, clean and fast. I made up an access plate feed my OCD and a finished "oem" look, hey it's a Porsche.

I used to install Fram sure drain kits on all my cars. Unfortunately they stopped selling them years ago. Very similar to the design posted first above. Best thing I ever added to my 7.3 powerstroke diesels. 14qts of oil - no drain pan big enough. I could drain it one gallon at a time into waste containers.

on a Saturn SC2 i had, i installed a fumoto drain plug. However i discovered at the next oil change that i had an issue as not all the oil actually drained out when the plug was opened.
The problem was when the fumoto drain plug was in place & tight, the internal threads of it apparently stuck up a few MM higher into the oil pan which didn't allow all the oil to drain out when it was open. i took out the fumoto drain a lot more oil drained out.
