Default It's like a time capsule

Had been looking for a few months now for something to "plow" the snow here in New England and pricing on used vehicles this past summer was still off the charts. I was eyeing the 958.2 in lieu of 958.1 for some key upgrades that were not part of the first gen and mainly for warranty purposes. Got really close on not only one but two however in the end neither one worked out, until this popped up in the midwest.

As soon as I saw the pictures of the color, I just knew it was the one. Jet green metallic with tan interior. It's a 2013 with 74,000 miles. 2 previous owners and somewhat of detailed carfax history. Check and check. The exterior does need some TLC and interior is in decent shape. The headliner was sagging on the trunk side which is typical for these and being it's a 10-year old car but managed to get a "reasonable" price.

It arrived a week later on an open shipping truck and albeit a used car, I would seriously consider paying a bit more for a closed container. Car showed up like it came from an abandoned storage facility. Took 2 days to get cleaned up. My arms are still recovering.

I can't say I'm much of an SUV person, but damn this thing rides like it's on rails. Extremely impressed with the ride quality especially for steel springs. With all the digital gages these days on new cars, it feels like I'm stuck in a time capsule when driving this and I love it! Anyways on to a couple of pictures:

I'm not normally fond of green, but I've always liked Jade Green. It looks fantastic on the 958. Congratulations!

Thank you. The color also somewhat changes depending on sunlight. It’s one of those colors where it’s tricky to capture in pictures but great in person.

Thank you. Yes, first diesel. I was a bit skeptical of the only 240hp engine but these things haul a** from all the torque.

Nice color and you can get 30+ mpg, at 75+, too ! I highly recommend the Mr.12volt upgrade. I did it and love it. Really modernizes the CD. Get it from Roman here on the forum.

@abnorm4l Nice. It's the torque that's addictive.

Two things - first, treat every tankfull with Power Service Diesel treatment. Use the winter mix starting now, and then switch back to the regular in April. You can find it at FLAPS or on Amazon. This will help keep your high pressure fuel pump happy.

Second, only fill up at high volume top tier (Mobil, Shell, etc) stations. Service manager at VW in Wellesley told me that they got a steady stream of customers who had filled up at Speedway on Rte 9, for instance. Difference in quality can be significant, and diesel fuel pricing is not that variable.

Oh, an stay on top of the adblue. I put a couple of gallons in every so often...I never want to see that 1000 mile count down...

Thank you. Will check that out. Lack of car play makes you realize how far along technology has come. I’m loving the 15 pixel map resolution

Good to know on adblue. Picked up a container the other day. I’m at about 4000 miles since bought and getting ready for that first oil change.

Absolutely on the power service additive. The challenge is remembering to add it to the tank. It’s definitely noticeable when not added.

@abnorm4l Oil changes are really easy from above with an extractor. You could almost do it while wearing a suit!
