Windows won't go down after lock acuator replacement
I recently had the joy of replacing both rear lock actuators, about 3 weeks apart. While fiddly, all went well. Buttoned everything back up and things were working as normal.
Unfortunately, now both rear windows have decided to stop functioning. Good news is that they are closed!
Just curious if anyone else has run into this after fiddling with the window glass? Odd that it worked for a week or so but now has decided to fail. They did not fail at the same time, for the record, it was a few days apart.
I'm guessing it's an issue with maybe not getting the window glass deeply enough into their "channels" but thought I'd see if anyone else had any insight.
Thanks in advance.

fuse? - i believe there is a window learning function where you hold the button both up and down and for a few seconds and it learns it's limits....maybe? - fixed my RR actuator 2 days ago - so far so good

Checked the fuses but they are fine. I struggled to get one side to learn the window limits but eventually got it. But now they don't move at all, whether I use the driver's switches or the switches on the rear doors..

Do you have rear side window shades?

Yes. The gears were failing so I ended up just removing the rob that pushes the shade up on both sides.
Next time I'm in there I am planning on unplugging the motor.

there is your issue right there. Better to leave the rod in place and let it click away until it stops. Shade don’t work then the window won’t work.

Except that it did work for a couple of weeks after I pulled the rod out, that's what's weird. And the shade motors don't run either.

The shade has to reach its end point at the bottom for the window to work. Maybe with no rod in place, you hit enough bumps over the past couple weeks to move the mechanism out of the parked setting (which it would not do if the rod was in place holding it), and now the window won't work because it's sensing the shade is up. That's my theory!

The shade function can be coded out with a PIWIS or Launch X431 Pro and the windows will go up and down regardless of where the shades are (yes, you can roll the window down with the shade up). I’d look into doing this if you don’t want to repair the shade function.

As usual, the forum is genius!
I used PIWIS coding to tell the car that I did not have the rear sunshades installed et voila! the rear windows are now working perfectly. SO glad I didn't tear the door apart yet again, only to not resolve the problem.
Thanks to all for your inputs, much appreciated.
BTW, I actually rented the PIWIS 3 from midwest.vw on ebay. $100 for 7 days. Service was excellent, it had everything I needed. Fair warning, much of PIWIS is in German.
Search for "7 Day Rental, Porsche Piwis 3". The auction isn't up right at the moment because I have the tool, so I can't link it.
