Default I’m coming aboard

Hi everyone

just thought I would post and say I am coming aboard with a 2017 hybrid. I’m new to these so this thread has been very helpful. The car we bought has only 53,000 kms and well optioned. Only missing the onboard fast charger hopefully some here can give me guidance if I want something faster.

I should have it by next week. Here’s the options.

The onboard charger is what determines how much power the car will accept. It's either the stock 3,6kW or optional 7,2kW. No way to make it charge faster than that, even if you have wall charger capable of giving 22 kW, you still only charge with limit of the onboard charger. The charger is literally part of the car, not the charging cable.
Charging times:
3,6 kW ~3h
7,2kW ~1,5h

Thanks Umber, I appreciate the info. The 220v plug for the universal charger was still wrapped up and in the back, I don’t think it was ever used. It looks like the previous owner just charged it on 110v. I want the option for a bit faster charging than 110v and I already have 220v to the garage so I will be adding a 220v outlet.

Wasn't this thread previously set as a "sticky" thread?

Given the short e range in the 2017, I found a 240V charging set up key so that I could run errands just hours apart on electric instead of having to wait the 10-12hrs to recharge when 110V charging. I was lucky that I was able to run the 240V line myself, saving some money (an electrician wanted $1,000 for a pretty straightforward 14 ft run where the walls for the run were already open due to a renovation). I saw a while back earlier in this thread someone said they were quoted $4,000 for an install. That seems really high but then again, not all jobs are equal in terms of supplies and ease.

Recently I got into running the numbers to see how much I save when using electricity vs gas. I live in one of the most expensive states for electricity, so unfortunately the savings aren't as big as I had hoped (maybe 30% cheaper). I would suggest anyone looking to do a pricey 240V install (or even considering buying a plugin hybrid), they run the numbers and make sure its worth it (of course, if installing the 240v for future proofing, its probably better to just bite the bullet and do it).

In Canada I pay $0.08 per kWh if I charge off peak time which is after 7 pm and on weekends. Since I charge mostly in the evenings this works well.

When we built new I had the electrician run a separate 240v circuit out to the driveway area, "just in case". No EV yet, but the wires are already there, so I won't have to hack up any drywall to add a charger.

Default Dipstick

Does anyone happen to know the Porsche or Audi part number to replace the plastic plug with a proper dipstick? I have seen a part number for the diesels, wasn’t sure if the 3.0T was the same or not.

Hi All,
It's been awhile since I've checked in here.
I have a 2016 S-E Hybrid that I bought certified used form the dealer loaner fleet when it had 5000 miles.
I've been putting around 15K miles per year and it now has 83,000 miles on the odometer.
I would guess the ICE has about 55,000.

How are the 2016's holding up (2nd gen)?

I love the car (esp the dashboard and console layouts) and am not in a hurry to upgrade other than worry about various failures as age and mileage advance.

Appreciate the thoughts of other owners.

Thanks

1. How does your GL diesel start in -40?
2. Cold kills batteries. I'd think it's pointless to have an electric or hybrid in a place with -40
3. I'd go with v6 or v8 in that weather and I'm kind of a hater of v6 in general. Every v6 I've owned gave me issues. I'm strictly v8 from there.

Where you located, Antarctica?

Default End of warranty

My 2016 SE Hybrid (bought as dealer demo, certified used) has a 5 year/100K warranty that I just realized expires later this week.
Should I just go unprotected from here on out or is anyone recommending any additional warranty coverage given the complex drivetrain, battery,
etc?

Appreciate any input.
Thanks

How many miles do u have?
My SE hybrid has been trouble free so far.
I'm typically a fan of self insurance over extended warranty but certain cars (like my early Tesla Model X) are the exception.
higher mileage may also be the exception.

It has 85k miles. Probably about 70 percent gas powered miles.
just found out ext warranty is 8000 for 2y/24k miles and does not include the battery.
guess I’ll be taking my chances.

how old is yours and mileage?

Default 958 Cayenne Hybrid Failure

Hi
I am new here,
I have a 958 2014 E-Hybrid with 98k Km on the clock,
Few Weeks ago i got hybrid fault (yellow Light)
I got it checked from local dealer they said that the Electric Motor (E-Machine) is faulty,
I ordered that item from germany,
Unfortunately the dealership is being canceled in my country so i had to go for unauthorised dealer,
After installation according to the company procedures i am still getting the following faults,
EEM Failure
P0A0A00 Pilot line, open circuit
P0A2D00 Electric machine, temperature sensor - short circuit to B+
P178E00 Function restriction, temperature - limit value exceeeded
C120AB Check high-voltage air conditioner compressor control unit fault memory content

Please any guide to the trouble origin.

Thanks a lot.
