Default Heads Up Display

Has anyone received a Cayenne yet with the Head up Display?
I ordered mine with it having previously had a BMW and Range Rover with head up display.
For me, this was the most important option on the vehicle and I wouldn’t have ordered a Porsche if it didn’t have it.
Having it in a vehicle for the past 12 years, it is something you just used to having and miss when it isn’t there.
I’m curious to hear what people think about the Porsche HUD.
I haven’t seen any You Tube videos or pictures anywhere yet.

I ordered it on mine. I also ordered the 4 wheel steering. These will either be very important options or poor options as it depends on how Porsche executes them.

I think the Porsche HUD will be great. I have some experience with what is presumably an inexpensive HUD on our Chevy. I really like it. Frankly I regret not including it on our Turbo — I just got cheap, and angry at Porsche for making the thing optional on a US $150K car. I think you will really appreciate it.

Our current HUD shows tachometer; speed; shift points; temperature; radio station; turn-by-turn navigation; and others in full-color display. I would expect Porsche to offer nothing less.

When I place my order I’ll include HUD. I have HUD on my current BMW 750i and I agree: once you get it, it’s hard to live without it. You can see a demo of Cayenne HUD’s version on Nick Murray’s Cayenne Options Explained video on YouTube. Nick mentions it’s configurable and the demo shows it has multi-color (my 750i’s colors are white or yellow only).

Good luck!

I have the head up display, and it is great. Unlike other HUD, it does not show the posted speed however.

HUD in my new GMC Denali pickup truck works great, configurable data to display. Works just fine with polarized sunglasses which i was concerned about.

Do you use polarized sunglasses? How is it with them? I ask only because Porsche warns HUD is degraded or not viewable when using them. Thanks!

GM Makes the only HUD I have used that works with polarized glasses

My SA told me that he was unable to see the HUD when wearing polarized sunglasses. I can't see my BMW HUD either. Even though I have liked it in my BMW I decided to pass on my Cayenne order.

Polarized sunglasses degrade the image significantly. If the brightness of the display is at its max, it is visible though.

Hmm that's interesting. I've tended to shy away from them in my vehicles as I wear polarized sunglasses pretty much all the time when I drive. Might have to check one out with the brightness cranked.

We have it on our 2019 Cayenne (just got delivered on Saturday!!) and we also have it on our 2018 Audi Q7. I think the one on the Q7 is a little better (provides more information), but they are both great. I wear polarized sunglasses too. You can rotate the HUD slightly in my Q7 to make it so that you can see it clearly while wearing the glasses. Haven't checked out the Cayenne's HUD enough yet to see if that is possible, but I imagine it is (you could rotate it on our X5 and X6 as well).

We were looking at a 2019 in the dealer’s inventory which had the HUD option. We made it very clear to the salesman that we didn’t want it and weren’t going to pay for it. He wound up taking it off the price for a total discount off sticker of 9.3%. After using it with navigation I liked it so much I made sure the one I bought had it. I recommend you take a test drive with navigation in use before you pass on it.
