Porsche Finder tip: search nationwide

Porsche Finder tip: search nationwide
I have shared in the frustration that Porsche's site only lets you search a 500mi radius max. However I discovered a trick...
1) Add all the search filters that you want
2) Edit the web address from 500 to 3000 and you'll see a 3000 mile radius!

I love it when actualy smart people outsmart those who merely think they are smart.
Nice job! Thank you!

Instead of 3000 use -1 (negative one) to fully disable the distance filter.

That's a great tip and one that you should have kept to yourself. Many had already figured that out, but by now announcing it to the world on Rennlist there is little question it will get back to Porsche and they will close that nationwide ability.
Brilliant move!

That’s disappointing. Probably a dealer thing as they want to sell to customers in their own area. Dealers aren’t even trading with others like they used to. Guess it’s cars.com or using a zip code for other areas.

This is unnecessary. If you really think Porsche was searching this forum for glitches on their website you're another level of paranoid...

I know for a fact they do visit this site. Not for glitches in their configurator system but for a heads up on maintenance issues people are complaining about as well as other things.
Blabbing about a workaround that Porsche does not want you to be able to do on their website is not smart on this or any Porsche forum.

I would bet serious money on the fact that Porsche did not care about this thread. They have better things to do, like fixing the configurator that's been broken for months... Not saying they're not creeping on this site, but something this small? They didn't fix it right away.

The workaround I have been using is to keep my other filters, and to use one city to search a region, for example New York (east coast), Orlando (southeast), Houston (south), San Francisco (west coast), Portland (northwest) and Chicago (midwest). Extra effort and probably leaves out some dealers, so if anyone figures out a better way definitely share.

This was a great tip...
However, as probably most of you have found out by now,
the porsche finder is not a great source of information, as the data is often inaccurate or outdated.
In the majority of cases where you find a match for your search in finder, the car is either no longer available, or was never available when you visit the actual dealer's website.
There are also many cars available on dealer website that never make it to finder....
Not exactly helpful!
Being a software engineer, I wrote a web scraper that fetches data directly from over 150 US dealers and provides real time vehicle availability.
I am currently using this for my own vehicle search,
I was wondering if anyone else is interested in this...
(could potentially productize this or just make my script available via open source)
Let me know!
PS: I would also be happy to help Porsche improve their finder tool if they are open to that, I specialize in data and API's in my day job...
