Add heated steering wheel?
I’m looking at a 21 GTS and it does not have a heated steering wheel. Does anybody know if this option can be added by switching out the wheel rim?

It has been claimed in another thread that a heated wheel can be swapped in plug-and-play.
Take care to notice if the vehicle you end up with has SportChrono or not.
I am doubtful about this until someone confirms a list of parts, and whether coding was or was not required. I asked for more detail on the other thread, and it has yet to be provided.

From this thread on 2019 Cayenne heated wheel retrofit:
https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...ing-wheel.html
Tips from 958 and Macan threads:
Purchase a used heated steering wheel that matches your current unheated wheel. Don’t forget to get one with a Sport Chrono switch if yours is so equipped.
Clocksprings come in two types; with and without wheel heat. Get the one with a heat connector. Salvage yards often include VIN with listing. Run the VIN through vinanalitics.com to verify the clockspring has the heat connector.
Some dealers will not code a heated wheel unless it was factory installed. Check with your dealer first. In addition to PIWIS coding, you’ll also have to calibrate the steering angle sensor.

I have done many retro heated steering wheels. I have not done a new Cayenne, but a few 958’s, and 991’s. You need to add in a heated steering wheel, a new clockspring, then get the car coded (dealer or piwis 3). Nothing to worry about with the airbag as you simply disconnect the negative battery cable before disconnecting the airbag. I can probably do it in less than 20 mins. Look in the 958 forum.

Living in Florida, I had thought the heated steering wheel was such a waste. Then I found myself in the NC mountains in winter, and especially two weeks ago when it hit 5F, I realized how wonderful an option! Glad my car came with it - and now I don't know I'd want a car without it...
Sorry that it doesn't appear to be an easy retrofit for you, OP.

Sorry to resurrect this discussion, but interested to know if anyone did actually take a gamble and try swapping a non-heated wheel for a heated one? It seems strange that the car’s harness would be different. It’s starting to get cold up here in Boston and my 2019 Florida car is suddenly feeling it’s missing an important option! And it’s such a cheap option in the first place, I don’t know why they don’t just make it standard….oh yes, it’s Porsche.

I am guessing here, but I would say that putting in a heated wheel would require programing so the computer knows it is there. When you turn it on shows up in the dash IIRC. Haven't used it since last winter, LOL.
