Default Pictures of 3m Crystalline

Anyone have pictures of 3m Crystalline 60 vs 70?

I was thinking 60 for windshield but don’t know at which point it starts getting brownish hue from the inside.

Do 70. 60 is when it starts becoming quite noticeable that you have front windshield tint, and will run into law enforcement attention.

You’re not going to get a brown hue from the inside at either percentage.

Folks have posted at 40 or 50 is when it starts getting brown from the inside looking out. 70 has a bluish tint from the inside looking out. I have never seen 60 before so was curious.

The rear windows aren’t too dark. Prefer a little darker color. So adding 70 to the rear windows probably won’t make it more dark.

I konw you are looking at the transmission level but what does your state say? I know I was limited in that here in Missouri. I had the film installed at my local p-car dealership and just had them put in the max for windshield and side glass. They would not film the panoramic roof.

CR40 front and CR70 for the back/panoramic

I will try to get some photos from the 2024 car also.

I have the CR70 front on a few cars and I have been stopped by the police only once the last 2 years - they let me go since it is just on the limit. CR70 will show a mirror/blue/tint effect from far away so I think CR60 would be quite obvious and very easy to be spotted - and hence stopped

I always do 50% but we use nano. Every windshield is done and typically 20% all around

What is the factory darkness of the rear?

I don’t know how to do the math but a friend told me he used 70% for rear + 15% for front and it matched perfectly.

The back should be 20%

The brown/ odd hue you're talking about is if you have the heated windshield option.

I had 30% on my Touareg I drove for years. I always felt it was a good %

I am guessing he means 70% tinting which usually means CR30 and CR45 for front. The problem with this is that with CR45 you are going to get stooped.

Just to bring everybody on the same page please find below the 3M Crystalline values as provided by the factory. As I have mentioned CR40 on the front might be just visible to the police but probably you will not be stopped.

It depends on the state... Most cops don't like the windshields tinted. That's there like " Ahh HA moment"

The brown hue is the actual color of crystaline mid darkness option (not sure what percentage is that, not the very clear one, but the one slightly darker than that)

I got it on another car that got normal glass and its slightly brownish when facing direct sunlight only, not too bad though, something you won’t even notice after a while

I highly recommend Crystaline due to its clarity, but ONLY if it is US made, since 3 years ago most of what is available in the market is original yet Chinese made, and it got inferior quality according to pro installers that worked on both.
