Make your own.

1 part denatured alcohol to 2 parts distilled water.

And use dedicated 100% white terry cloth towels that have never seen the lights of fabric softener.

I use Invisible Glass as well, do not use Windex since it is not intended for automotive glass. If simple cleaning does not do it, I treat the glass as a painted surface, clay it, polish it and if clean apply a light coast of wax to seal it.

I've been doing something similar for years. Stoner was good but still left streaks.

My blend is 50/50 and I use a glass microfiber which won't lint.

Do you use the same 50/50 mixture on interior glass as well? Is there a chance of damaging interior plastic or leather with alcohol?

Thanks.

You don't spray it on the glass, you spray it on a towel. Clean the glass. Then buff dry with a second towel. So there's no uncontrollable overspray.

I see, thanks. I use micro fiber towels and they always leave residue on the inside. What kind of towel do you guys use for glass cleaning?

I've been happy with glass specific microfibers and like LexVan I stay away from fabric softeners both for washing and drying.

For reference I have not had any issue with alcohol/water overspray causing any damage to any surface in/on the car. I do make a point to remove a drip quickly. I also use the same technique to apply product to the applicator rather than trying to spray it on the surface when working inside the car. On the outside I'm not as careful.

I had a windshield that was pretty nasty. The wipers were fine, but would streak no matter how much I 'cleaned' the glass. I even clayed it.

Did some research and ended up following this video for the glass exterior.

I did the budget version however: skipped the polishing steps and used microfiber towels all with the same coarseness (and I have no clue what coarseness they are!). I put some tape at the bottom edge/seal/cowl of the windshield so all the grit wouldn't fall inside.

It worked well for me!

Take care,

Yeah great video. I like that he's OCD. "take the MEDIUM pile Micro Fiber to clean the wipers".

Anyway, notice he's using Stoners Invisible Glass, as some people have recommended. It's inexpensive and ready-to-use and comes with a squirt bottle. You guys spend $75k on a used car and want to save money on glass cleaner?

That video is excellent but realistically that's something you would do once a year.....

Personally I think my isopropyl/distilled water with a good short pile glass cleaning microfiber is the easiest and fastest way to get good results.
