Default Big RS3 Update Today (2016-10-25)

AiM just released a pretty big update to RS3. It includes the faster communications, the ability to combine files on download, the ability to automatically exclude single lap files (like in RS2), and a host of other options. Make sure you click on the cloud icon in the top left of the RS3 screen to get the update.

It's nice, because AiM users can enter their information on the aim-sportline.com website to get electronic notification of these releases.

It's also useful, whenever opening RS3 on a computer connected to the web, to check the cloud update status on the top right side of the window.

Thanks, Matt.

I know lots of people get the emails and notice the icon, but I wanted to let people know what was included. There was even more than I listed. Some of the unit fixes and other items are great.

I've been using the Beta download features and it's great to be able to make single files form multiple sessions again!

Interestingly this RS3 update will also update RS2 to 2.22.86. But yet the latest update for RS2 as shown on the AIM site is 2.22.68.

For those hoping to use the new protocol for the 981 GT4 ClubSport, no dice until you buy the new CAN gateway from PMNA. Big thanks to Joe Hullett for this info:

"The 6 pin CAN output DTM for the Porsche GT4 Clubsport only exists on the Manthey Racing CAN adapter kit for SRO compliance. You need to order that kit from Porsche, even the MR Clubsports do not come with it."

Thanks for the heads up Matt. And thanks to you, Peter & Jerry for all of the assistance you provide. I updated RS3 on my PC and my trackday laptop and noticed there is a SC HD update available also. Due to age, size and an overall lack of flexibility, the SCHD camera in my car is pretty much inaccessible for me to do anything other than remove and replace the SD card so I'm not planning to update mine prior to leaving for DMTD at Sebring tomorrow. That shouldn't be an issue I'm assuming. Please let me know if that assumption is wrong.

I'm really looking forward to this event after several months of missed or truncated weekends due to car issues and would hate to not have my Solo DL/SC system working and me scrambling to figure out why.

Thanks again,
Mike

Cloudspin, this SCHD firmware update is for fixing a fairly rare issue that only is for SCHD users that have a SCHD GPS 08 sensor plugged directly into the SCHD. Seems like you are using a SoloDL (and its GPS sensor) so this firmware update does no affect your setup. Don't worry about this and have a great time at the track!

Roger,

Does AIM plan to update the SoloDL firmware to allow the unit to draw power from the OBDII connection (on an older Porsche Boxster [1999])?

When is the video/data integration coming they promised quite a while ago?

It should receive power from the car. Have you tried it in another car to see if it gets power?

Domani. Domani.

They are working on it. I do now know a date to give anyone, but I would not expect it this year.

FIrst if all I'm a big fan of AIM equipment and software. However, I can't figure out a way to say this and not sound snarky, so I apologize in advance. I honestly can't think of anything other than data analysis/video integration that I could consider a major update of RS3. All else is incremental goodness.

Thanks for the heads up Matt.
