Default Porsche still doing ED, or permanently cancelled?

From dealer reps I gather that BMW and AUDI have permanently stopped.

Not clear about Porsche, Volvo and Mercedes but they are all on pause for the moment, some say, never to return.

Did it get cancelled as the New Normal?
anyone have any insight?

Many new German cars I’d like to get but I’ll get used or US a built, if no ED.

No special insight here, just to say I really hope it comes back. I had wanted to do a BMW M2 euro delivery this year, but obviously that's been scrapped. Now hoping for a 718 euro delivery next year... picking up a new car from factory in Germany is bucket list for me!.

Same concern here. I have ED tentatively planned for September - October 2021. If no ED, I'll just keep what I have.

My understanding is it was still available for German customers, without the factory tour and restaurant. Which gives hope.

If anyone gets a European Delivery date confirmation of any brand, please share so we can place our orders.

My dealer confirmed a 6/15 ED date for my 718 GTS 4.0, however that date is still far enough away that I have not received the usual ED documentation so I'm not treating it as a full confirmation just yet.

Another MB dealer sales guy told me no more ED.
Maybe it will change one day, no more new German cars I guess..

For what it's worth I just did euro delivery in October. I was the only person that day because everyone cancelled due to travel restrictions. However, on Porsche's end they were still a go and no indication of ending it anytime soon...

I'm following this thread. I've done two EDs with Porsche and planning for a third in the 992GT3 next year. Crossing fingers that we can get these vaccines rolled out asap.

ED is still listed as an option on the Porsche configurator.

That is great news!

Fingers crossed as I want to do a ED with a 992 GT3 Touring as well.

FWIW, I ended up not ordering a new car (and going with a 993) partly because ED would not have been available.

I have done some research and was told ED costs the dealer about 3k so they may not have an incentive to offer a %off the MSRP. I’m looking at doing a ED in Aug-Sep 2021 and when i mentioned it to the SP he stated it shouldn’t be an issue with a build date around June. i hear if the dealer does do an ED then they may also get an extra allocation so a + for them. Questions are if anyone has ever done a ED and did they still receive a discount and what that discount was? Would you get more of a discount if you didn’t do ED? I’m looking at an 2021 standard (not PDK) Boxster GTS with about 2k in options. What do you think a reasonable discount would be on that vehicle? The dealers i spoke to didn’t seem like it would be an issue for ED around September-October 2021. I’m a first time porsche buyer. Thanks

I think the limiting factors in the possibility of a discount will be how many options you put on there and how many allocations the dealer gets. I also ordered a 21 Boxster GTS for ED; my dealer only got 2 GTS 4.0's for 2021 so I didn't receive a discount.

Two comments. First, in normal times yes you can still negotiate a discount for an ED. In my experience it'll be a couple of points less than a US delivery because of that extra cost even though the dealer gets an extra allocation (if supply is not an issue you could argue this is more loading the channel than real value to them).

Second, the issue for ED availability at the moment is less about what Porsche offer and more about general travel restrictions and/or uncertainty. Throughout our ED planning last year Porsche were happy to do it but in practical terms it wasn't feasible and to their credit they accommodated a change to US delivery without qualm. I don't see 2021 being any easier for travel to and within Europe than 2020 was, the virus is still largely out of control there as it is in the US and it'll take more than a few months for governments to open things up again even with the vaccine rollouts.
