I've had it since 3500 mi. my mileage is 50-60% track use. The LSD does seem to work and doesn't seem unstable under braking. However, the torque test requires almost no torque to turn. Presumably the LSD is not really functioning.

I put these results out to see if anybody has run analysis on their tranny and to give some results on a low mileage GT3 tranny. Kyle

ok,
ive decided that i want to add a carbon roof to my car. the idea being i can reduce weight, lower center of gravity AND.....sunroof delete all in one go.

has anyone done this? any tales of woe regarding fitting?
looking at the removal instructions it seems just a fairly straightforward job of removing spot welds and then de-bonding and popping it off. shouldnt be too hard for my body shop to do.

what is of more interest to me is how did you approach the new ones fitting. does this just get bonded in place with a few bolts to help secure?
there doesnt seem much in the way of alternatives available but without knowing for sure id really like to here from those who have done it or had it done.

Hey there everyone,

With the recent discussions on LSD's here, and elsewhere. I thought that you all might like to know that there is a rebuild kit for Porsche Differentials available that would allow you to rebuild your differential.

You would not need to remove your gearbox in order to do this, although it would be a bit easier if you had a lift available to you to facilitate easy removal of the differential.

Cost on the Porsche rebuild kit is $894.93 plus shipping. This would be for the 4 plate GT2, GT3. 996 TT differential.

The kit includes friction plates, plane plates, new bellville washers, and spacers.

The benefit here is that you will not need to have your ring and pinion reset, and you will be able to restore the full preload of the differential to the stock factory setting.

I would be happy to help people with the purchase of this kit, and some instruction as to what you actually need to do in order to refresh your differential yourself. (It really is not hard, at all.)

I hope that this information helps,

Hello folks,

the event I dreaded the most occurred today.
I sometimes takes my wife shopping, but make sure my car occupies a corner spot and is far off from the rest.

So, I come back from shopping to find my passenger side mirror broken and a small scratch on my door. I called the cops and reported, but the stupid parking lot doesnt have any cameras to find out who did it. It was most probably a shopping cart that some careless guy just let go and since the parking lot is on an incline, it must have caused this... nothing else makes sense.

Let me know if anyone of you has a spare.

thanks,

Guys,
I'm just checking out a ppi report of a 6GT3 which I'm interested in. I will go to check out the car personally but in the meantime the owner sent me copies of a ppi report. I'm particularly interested in these statements in the report:
Number of ignitions range 1 = 805
Number of ignitions range 2 = 0
Outside rpm range (upper range) 246.8 h
Outside rpm range (lower range) 0
I guess that these figures make a statement about if the engine has been overreved but I'm not sure about that so any feedback is very welcome.

I was trying to track down the location of the horn(s). From the pet, it looks like there are two. Both going at the same time seems strange, unless one went dead a long time ago and I never noticed it.

Hey everyone,

If you are looking for a spare gearbox for your GT2, we have a great deal for you.

This is a new factory reman unit that appears to be one of Porsche's new gearboxes, so take that as you will. I am selling it as a reman unit though.

It does have the Motorsport LSD, as well as the pump and cooler.

No core required on this gearbox, I just need to see it go to good use.

Cost on this gearbox would be $9500.00 shipped to your door, anywhere in the CONUS.

This is a G96.88 and the OEM part number is 996 300 020 CX if you would like to check up on this.

Even without the shipping paid on this you are saving about $1000.00 on this one over what you would normally have to pay Porsche for this.

Thanks for looking, and please let me know if you are interested in picking this up.

Warmest Regards,
