As I stated in my introductory post, I am in the market right now for a Cayman S. My home state is South Carolina, and I have found that the dealerships here including Hendrick in Charlotte which is an hour from me) is lacking in inventory at the moment. I have used several different search engines including the Dupont Registry. Has anybody used the Dupont Registry and could comment? I saw some really good deals on some M/Y 2008 and 2009, which is what I'm looking for.

I will not be back in the States until the end of January, but I'd like to finalize on a deal before I return home. Should I wait it out another month or so and see if the deals on '09s become more lucrative?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Good day or evening everyone,

My name is Mike, and I would just like to take a moment to introduce myself. I currently own a BMW 3 Series as my daily driver, but I am in the market right now for a fun and thrilling driving experience. I have toiled over the 911 vs. Cayman debate for a while now, but I have finally come to the conclusion that my heart is with the Cayman S, and that's what brings me here to your forum. I am intoxicated by the mid-engine design and performance. Back seats, cargo space, and "status" are some of the things that are rather irrelevent to me at this point. The heritage of Porsche I am very much interested in, however. I do not know much about the Porsche-line of vehicles, but I have been learning a lot over the past several weeks and that's another reason why I'm here.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to becoming more involved in the forum.

Cheers!

Mike

I am a new poster and very glad to be here! :bigbye:

A Porsche dealer has a left-over 2008 base Cayman- listed under "New Inventory"-a photo has a "demonstrator" sign on it. The build date was March, 2008 and it has been sitting on the lot for at least a year. MSRP was $56,000. I was thinking of offering $40k and going up to $43k max.

The car has few desirable options for serious Cayman people: Tiptronic, 17" wheels, climate control, xenon lights, wheel caps and mats.

I am 64 and don't mind getting a "Porsche light" experience. No racing. No track.

I would like some opinions as to my offering price range. The car is Carrera White, blue interior.

Also should I ask for a ppi and rev history-not sure how many miles it has on it.

Any opinions on whether a car like this qualifies for the 1.9% Porsche financing since it is listed as a new vehicle?

Should the dealer provide me with an extended warranty since in all likelihood the warranty has been punched using up considerable warranty time.

Thanks for the help!

Rennline Billet Shift Knob **Product Release** $95

Unlike most shift knobs on the market, Rennline’s are far from “universal”. Universal usually means that it will nearly fit some applications and will not fit the rest. All Rennline shift knobs are CNC machined to fit specific applications, eliminating the concern of missing a gear due to loose or detached shift knob. There is no need to cut, drill, or modify your factory shift lever to install. All of our shift knobs are the ergonomically correct 1.875” diameter and have rubber trim rings installed at the base. Available in Silver and black finishes, for cars with or without integrated shift boots.
