FVD-Brombacher is proud to announce that we are now offering do-it-yourself flash load ECU software upgrades for the 997 Turbo and GT2! Also included with our latest software version for the 997TT & GT2 is a free single user license for Durametric basic software, allowing you to read out and diagnose fault conditions on your vehicle.

FVD-Brombacher’s flash load software is a user friendly Windows® based software application that provides the ability to read out and load programmed software directly thru the vehicles OBD II port. Programming is a simple, computer guided experience and requires hardly any user input. FVD-Brombacher supplies the customer with a USB cable which interfaces directly with the vehicles diagnostic port and our companion flash load software program. Read-out of the vehicles ECU takes place with the click of a button thru the vehicle-encrypted cable, which automatically creates and sends a file to a secure server at FVD-Brombacher Headquarters in Germany. Our software programmers then extract the file’s data, tune the software, then modify the program to suit the customer’s individual needs. Customers are able to express individual tuning requirements in a text field at the end of original file read-out before the program is sent to Germany. Here, the customer can input performance upgrades already installed on the vehicle and our programmers can adapt software tuning to extract maximum performance gains out of existing vehicle modifications.

Whether your vehicle is heavily modified or completely stock, FVD-Brombacher will custom tune our programming to suit individual requirements. While we are able to modify a program based on individual needs, FVD-Brombacher tunes Porsche ECU’s with the following modifications in mind:

-Increasing throttle response
-Modifying Ignition Timing
-Optimizing Air and fuel ratios
-Removal of the top speed limiter
-Increasing the rev limiter
-Modification of boost mapping on turbo vehicles

All of FVD-Brombacher’s programming is proprietary, developed in house by FVD, for FVD, our partners and you, our customers. After modifications are made to the software, the file is then sent back via email directly to the customer who can then load the program back into the vehicle. The read-out of the original software and loading of the new program takes only minutes and the entire flash load process from start to finish takes under an hour. Customers also have the ability to flash their ECU back to stock anytime using the same cable and software, as the customer is also sent their original, unmodified program file. FVD-Brombacher stands behind all of their products and offers a 14-day money back guarantee on software upgrades. FVD-Brombacher also offers free software program updates should the customer decide to step up their performance and choose one of our level kits.

Another snap oversteer question 997tt; 997tt.2; 996tt

After 10 years of having a 911 (including 35k hard miles on a 996tt) I have been Porscheless for almost 4 years, with the E60 M5. I went to purchase 997tt (for a street use in addition to M5) before my 2 boys outgrow the rear 2 seats.

Test-drove a low milage 07 997tt on a very familiar ramp and experienced surprise "snap oversteer" with early exit throttle PSM on, 8/10 effort and was very, very surprised.

I drove my 996tt hard and enjoyed pushing it to the limit in particular in hard turns, dry or rain with no consequences and even at higher speeds at this particular turn - ramp. My M5 feels safer in turns at similar speed as 997tt with a throttle/lift (subjective -please!!).

While I know that GT3, 993, 997.2 C2S can be more fun, I enjoyed 996tt for is bulletproof safety on the streets. I enjoyed 996tt for no need to be cautious like I had to be with my 993 -2 in the past.

I decided to get the 997tt as a better version of 996tt but after the test drive I am holding back. I liked the car in any other way but I do not feel comfortable of being "paranoid" when pushing the car if I am not at track.

I researched many rennlist posts including" rc's opinion from rennteam re 997 turbo off throttle oversteer" and others about oversteer as well as several articles on this topic mentioned and discussed here (also problems with PSM on).

The newest issue of "Excellence" proudly mentions in a 997tt.2 review article how the 997tt.2 has overcome these handling and oversteer problems as the best improvement in a new car.

So: 1) If I have to worry about snap oversteer I may rather get the 993tt and al least have more fun (I know it is subjective);

or if I want to be safe and not worry:

1) Get a 997tt.2 and pay way more than the low mile '07 997tt - or get the 996tt again?; 2) Consider getting '07 997tt with LSD (the one I tried did not have it), does it make a difference, anyone? (searched the forum but no good answer); 3) Do a suspension change (too many options and no standardized proven setup)?

Again, purchasing the car for always only 7-8/10 driving is not OK. Also if I decide to always track the car I would get a separate car.

Anyone had a similar situation and decision problem?

Many thanks :)

I have a question regarding the EVOMs ECU software boost.
I've read about the IST automatic ignition maps switching for octane grades.

I only use 93 octane.

Does this have an effect on BOOST as well for both normal AND sport timing maps?

I've noticed my boost gauge (set for BAR) only measures 1.0 BAR consistently @ full throttle (DBW fully floored) but never exceeds or tapers off.

I wanted to know if this is correct as I thought 1.2-1.4 BAR was the norm in sport particularly between 2k-4k RPM?

The additional boost if any is supplied through the OEM sport chrono software which works with the EVOMS software tune right?

Or am I missing the number change on the gauge while focusing on the road?

And 90BHP and torque is constant regardless of driving mode setting?

So for example if Torque with sport chrono engaged is 505lb per ft. then expectations should be 595lb per feet with EVOMS right? (?)

this modulates at a constant HP/TQ rating irrespective of EGT and atmospheric temps?

Software gets confusing to comprehend normal and sport and ECU tuned normal and sport etc. etc. LOL.

Thanks.

2009 Turbo, 8500 miles, check engine light comes on while driving. Dealer checks it, says it was a fault in the cam, unsure of cause -- maybe some dirt in the oil. No reason for concern. Re-sets everything, performs the annual service and I am off to get the car inspected. Car fails the state emission test because the car was not "ready". Told by the dealer and inspector to just drive the car for a few days -- perhaps up to a week -- and then re-inspect. SHould pass no problem. Sound right to you?

I am getting close to ordering a new 2010 TT Cab and would appreciate any feedback on the following:
1) For the seats, i have sat in the comfort seats, but not the adaptive sports seats. it looks like the adaptive sports seats have more adjustments that can be made. But my question is, is one seat wider than the other. I am 6'3", 200 lbs, and while I have enough leg and head room, the backs of the comfort seat seemed a little narrow. My shoulder blades seemed outside of the seat. Will the adaptive seats be more or less narrow/restrictive?
2) how come sports exhaust is not an option? how does this car sound? my fear is it is too quite. I'm not looking for an obnoxiously loud sound, but german cars have been getting quieter and quieter. i know i can buy an aftermarket exhaust. for those that have heard the engine, i would love your thoughts.
3) PTV worth it or not?
4) for those that have seen ruby red in person, how would you describe it? does the picture on the website accurately portray the color in real life?
5) for those that have placed orders, are you getting below msrp?

thank you!

Everyone:
I am new the high end car world, and realizing in my searches that I cannot find any software or products that will allow one to adjust fuel/timing maps on their own car. I am use to being able to install aftermarket ECUs or have an ECU "chipped" where I can connect a computer to the OBD II or directly to the ECU in other cars. Can anyone inform me if this is available for the 997 turbo? If it is not available, can anyone please explain why? I am starting to get unhappy with finding out I am not going to be able to have this option with my car. In my opinion, flashes are too generic due to the fact 2 exact cars can and will run differently. Thank you in advance for all the responses.
