Hey everyone, my name is Chase. I live in Orlando, Fl. I've been doing a blog website for little over a year about things I like to post in the car world www.motoracingltd.com Just recently my family and I were thinking of getting a "track car" so i wouldn't have to use my daily Acura on the legendary tracks. A few cars like the S2000, STI, and EVO came to mind, but then I came across this 1981 911SC with only 70,000 miles and a great price. Looking more into I found how amazing this car was, plus all the racing heritage I could ever need. I couldn't be happier with this car! So about 2 weeks ago we bought it for a cheap price. I think we will use it on the street for a bit, then hopefully in a year turn it into a track car.
I am very excited to learn as much as I can about this great society of the 911.
Thanks in advance for any tips, suggestions...

P.S. the M is my roomate

I don't know what kind of pads are on my car right now (they were on the car when I purchased it), but they are killing me. The squeaking when I pull up to a red light is embarrassing and drives me nuts. They also put out a good bit of dust. I had them checked the last time I was in the shop and they said that there was lots of meat left on them so I've decided I just need to get a better set. What's a good brand to buy that is lower in dust and DOES NOT squeak? I read a previous post (It didn't mention squeaking) that praised Mintex. Would that be a good solution?

So, I'm standing still at a red light and when the light turned green, I accelerated and my rear right wheel started "slipping"... basically getting no grip. After a second I got grip and took off normally.

I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a manhole cover. So I figured my tire was on that manhole cover when I took off and the tire wasn't getting any grip on the wet metal. As soon as it came off the metal and got on the road, the tire "got grip" again.

My question is: can only one side of the rear wheel slip like that?

Hi Guys,

Ive been searching over the web for help. We have a 95 plate 911 targa. We have ahd new door seals, had the doors lifted and tightened but still seem to suffer with water leaks, more in the front than in the back. Wtaer seems to come from around the pana roof at the front, and when stood drips like a tap, eventually settling in the front footwells.

The seal over the top of the front windscreen which marries up to the Roof diflector, has been lifted to reveal a lot of corrosion as though water has been sat there. I have spoke to our local Porsche Centre who says it could be the "Active Drains" are blocked within the roof pod.Could anybody tell me where the "Active Drains" run within the roof pod of the car?

Speak soon

1988 Carrera Coupe. After locking the car with the door key, a pull on the passenger side latch unlocks the driver's side door.

Here is the situation: (1) I lock the driver side door with the key (Also note that I have never been able to actuate the locking mechanism with the key at the passenger side door for the 3 years I have had the car. There is a lot of resistance in the action. I just now discovered that the driver door gets un-locked.). (2) A pull on the passenger side latch unlocks the driver side door. The driver side door is openable. Both the driver side and passenger side buttons are now up. But, a continued pull on the passenger side latch doesn't open the passenger side door. It seems that the latch pull doesn't change the passenger side locking status. As mentioned before, a re-insertion of the key at the passenger side door keyway doesn't re-lock the door(s). I can hear an action in the door, but there is no action on either door lock. (3) If I lock the driver side door then try to re-lock (without touching the latch) the passenger side door (button is already down), there is no action at all or button change.

So the car is not secure. A pull on the passenger door latch always unlocks the drivers side door.

Can someone tell me what is wrong? Is it the lock microswitch, a bad actuator or the central locking module?

Thanks.
