I am looking to find some clear (non-fluted) headlight lenses for a new HID conversion project I am working on for my C2. I have seen one or two examples in the past but it never shows how the headlights were made because they aren't available out of the box anywhere.... Any ideas on where i can find Clear lenses without any flutes in the glass???? Example Below....

I look up the part (901 512 052 00) figuring, hey, maybe I want to buff up that piece all shiny-like on my car.
So, what's it look like/how's it taken off?:

That part number, 901..., further intrigued me, so I looked up it's coverage.
(Son of a gun!) That lower latch p/n has coverage on every air-cooled 911 (& every 912) ever made.
Turns out it was one of those "Got it right the first time" parts, and was never re-designed.

And that's my worthless 964-related trivia of the day!

Ok, heres my newly owned 964, well owned for 3 months now.

A 1992 c4

A white 964 wasnt my 1st choice of colours when on my search. But having gone through my search looking for a silver one, it became apparent that silver was harder to find, even white manual C2 and C4 at this minute with low miles and good history.

My mind was made straight away whilst seeing her on the forecourt of a Porsche Specialist, looking clean, crisp and so update.





Very soon back home!






She has a nice colour combo interior in light grey and blue.



She was in excellent condition much thanks to the previous owners, who spent whatever was needed to keep her up-to-date.

It has taken me some time to find the right car to come along, having seen this car with such spec. As mentioned in white with blue and light grey interior. I tried to sell my 1989 c4 few months ago with no luck so I did this:

-moton clubsport
-solid bushings suspension
-camber plates
-993 g50 with with short gears
-roll cage
-fiberglass doors, hood, wing
-solid trans/engine mounts
-235/18 285/18 michelin sport cup tires
-RS sway bars
total weight with 3/4 tank 2560 lbs, corner balanced and aligned.

Thank's to this forum (lots of info on everything), Steve at Rennsport (suspension and gears) and Joel Reiser (info on c4 to c2 conversion) and my mechanic, the result was a very competitive car on the track, almost Top time if it wasn't for low fuel that made the engine shut off on right hand sweeper!

With that said, I just finished doing a ton of work including clutch, valves,... I have read every single oil overfill thread on here, I promise... With that said, I just finished doing a ton of work including clutch, valves, lots of seals, etc. I drained all of the oil via the drains in the case and the tank. After all was done, I put 8.5 quarts in and cranked up. I got tons of smoke and knocking. So, I ask WTF!? 8.5 quarts? I thought that was what you were supposed to do. Have I completely killed the thing? Any advice on next step? I intend to drain from the case and then let it idle, but I don't want to risk hydrolocking it. It only ran for 10 seconds or so and when I saw the smoke and heard the knock I turned it off. It's a high mileage engine that needs a rebuild anyway, so not that big of a deal, but I was hoping my dad could drive it easy for a while before I have to rebuild it.
