I purchased a set of OEM 18 inch C3 lightweight wheels for my Boxster, and the left rear has a small amount of rash. I'd prefer to lightly sand the affected area and touch it up rather than have the entire wheel painted. I've never been happy with a repaired/painted wheel.

I've also tried the Wurth paint, and it sucks. Is there an alternative?

Is the correct color available, or will I need a custom mix?

I posted this once a while back and got no responses. Thought I'd try again....

A while ago my key fobs stopped working to lock/unlock the doors and open the boot lids. Not wanting to spend a ton of money for that minor convenience, I have just been locking and unlocking the car with the key like any other Joe has to do with his car. However, some strange things seem to happen when I do this. The car is a MY03 base. I'm not sure if this is procedural or if I have something malfunctioning , but I would assume that I should be able to use the key normally in this manner without these issues.....

1) When I park and lock the doors from the driver's door using the key and NOT the fob button (which does not work either), then go away for a time (like to work or over night), then come back and unlock the doors from the drivers door using the key , three things seem to happen:

a) The alarm will go off within seconds if I do not immediately get in, put the key in the ignition, and turn it at least one position even though I have used a legitimate key......

b) I can not seem to unlock the passenger's door from the lock/unlock switch on the dash...it is lit red, and stays red, no matter how firmly or how many times I push it. I have to reach over and open the passenger door from inside, then the red light on the lock/unlock switch goes out and it returns to normal operation.

c) The fuel door appears to stay locked. The next time I need to open it, I have to get out of the car, close the driver's door, lock and then unlock the driver's door with the key, then the fuel door will open. Kind of embarrassing at a gas station.

Anyone have any ideas on what might be malfunctioning?

Hello all, new old guy here.
I've got an itch for a convertible and a Boxster or 911cab are on top of my list. I realize they are very different but i like them both. Frankly, i think a Box S handles > a 911 C2 cab. I'll use my "I'm new here card" and get the dumb questions out of the way:

1. '08 Boxster RS 60 vs '08 Boxster S- Beside the color/options
& exhaust, are there any major differences?

2. '08 Boxster RS 60 vs '09 Boxster S- The 09 Engine is a DFI w/ 310hp vs the RS' 303. Is the difference noticeable?

3. '09 Boxster S vs '09 Cayman S- Why does the Cayman have 10hp more? I thought they were the same engines

tks

i want to run a boxter spare tire inside my 968....

i got one of those dumb spare tires that crinkle up and i hate it.

my spare is 25.6" in diameter when inflated...

i run 25.5"~25.7" Dunlop 9000 275-35-18 [the correct diameter] and NON-lsd.

which brings me to my question---

would it hurt my non-lsd rear end to run a BOXTER spare tire instead -- in the event of a flat ?

the boxter spare is about 5/8" smaller in diameter than the tires i currently run.

Hello,

If you haven’t seen my other threads, my company is SRP Racing. We are an official Rennlist sponsor. We have been making racing pedals since 1995, almost 15 years.
www.srpracing.com
--------------------
Our pedals are designed to offer the highest levels of grip and much improved heel toe sizing. They are also the best looking pedals on the market:) I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. We have four different surface finishes to choose from. The Grid surface finish is the most popular, so that is what I mostly post pictures of.
--------------------
Your feet will not slide on our pedals. Once you start braking, your foot will not slide. However, you still have plenty of control for blipping the throttle. You DO want your foot to slide on the gas pedal. This is so you can apply the throttle smoothly. You will notice that our Grid finish gas pedals have smoother grids, so as to reduce the grip.
--------------------
As a reminder, I am going to keep running the Rennlist discount coupon code for Rennlist members. Just enter: rennlist while checking out for 20% off.
--------------------
Please note, the pictures below are just examples, and might not be for your particular car.
You can also order our pedals with black anodizing.

My clutch and dual mass flywheel failed, I replaced with light weight single piece flywheel (added cost about $100) and used the stock solid clutch disc from the stock clutch replacement kit. I opted not to spend the $650 for a sping loaded clutch disc. I read about problems such as grabby engagement (with no spring in the clutch disc to replace the spring in the DMF) and rattling noises. Long and short, its in, it works great, and is noticably quicker with no loss in streetability. Its like a new car. I track the car a lot, I can't wait until spring.

But the higher miles car seemed to handle better, tighter and with less roll- especially in the rear.
Only difference between the cars is that the higher milieage car has 18 wheels.

Are the 18s causing that difference?

Just scored a super cheap short shift kit on ebay... from LA Porsche dismantlers. There was no brand or anything on the listing but one glance at the picture and it is obviously a B&M. They go for anywhere from $225-300 for the shifter alone, but it only cost me $53 plus shipping. Better yet, it is already installed in a shifter surround so I don't have to destroy my factory unit installing it.

My car has about 66K on it and lately the shifting has gotten more difficult. I've had the trans fluid flushed but still on some shifts the car does not seem to want to go into gear, particularly when cold. So the SSK can't very well hurt the situation as I already don't like the shift action. Plus it is cheaper than the 997 unit which is $180 at Suncoast. AT worst I can resell it and pick up one of those.

So the question is, can I install this thing with only reattaching the shift cabling? Or are there some adjustments I should do since my existing factory shifter has less than desirable functionality? Most installs seem to be done on cars with the standard radio.. my car has PCM which puts the climate controls down below where other cars have a CD holder and cubby. Any caveats to that?

Now I just need to kick down for ROW M030 suspension... :jumper:

Hey there everyone,

I was curious if anyone has experienced a problem with the clutch pressure plate failing in the Boxster??

We have seen a couple of the track cars blowing these up and did some research to see if a stronger unit had been constructed to take care of this issue.

Good News, it has been. Sach's Racing apparently noticed some failures and has redesigned a new pressure plate now.

Cost looks to be about $600.00, but if you consider the amount of damage that takes place when one of these goes away, not a bad price.

Let me know if anyone is interested in this upgrade. I will be happy to help.

Warmest Regards,
