I'm member 57. I bought my one and only Porsche at age 63. My father was responsible for my love of Porsches. He was a car guy but did not care for them himself. He was a 50's hot rodder and his dream car was a gullwing Mercedes 300 SL. He was never a wealthy man but did have a 1928 Model A he bought when he was 16 that he restored when he retired; it had a flathead Ford V8 and was fast as hell.
His best friend let me drive his 1977 Porsche SC Targa when I was just 18 years old. I had always liked the looks of the 911 and fell in love with them on that day. When he passed away three years ago I used a portion of my inheritance to buy my 2013 991.1 S Cabriolet. I enjoy driving it as my daily driver. I work from home so it's mostly used for leisure. I plan to keep it until the day I die.

Interesting forum idea!
I'd suspect I'm among the relatively few now elderly and original purchasers of a somewhat early Porsche, a 1990 964C2.
I had wanted a Gullwing but even then they were very expensive, and not at all practical for where I live.
I "settled" for the 964, was told by the dealer when I picked up the car that I could use it as everyday transport...soon found out I really liked the car even in those following years when 964's were less desirable then now.
I decided to keep it bone stock, no winter driving, no daily driving, and later on to be used only on nice days in summer.
Fortunately I've never had any accidents nor need for any repaint, always keep it covered in the garage...and just yesterday on it's first 2024 ride on a very nice Michigan spring day, passed 30,000 miles! I'm told it's not a good idea to never drive them, so I try for 1000 each year.
Once many years ago I even got it up to 125mph! Yup folks, I know it's not being used as it's supposed to be.
Hopefully my car will never be turned into replica long hood or some such thing...

I'll be at Birmingham Parade with my son-in-law (also Porsche owner) and while I missed Palooza last year, plan to attend in 2024. I would love to have a set-up for all us seniors to meet at Birmingham.

I guess I'll take #65, though at age 73 I doubt I'll remember it for more than five minutes. I'm mainly a racer, with a 1967 Porsche 911 racecar, a 1973 Merlyn Formula Ford, and two 1959 Huffaker BMC mk1 Formula Juniors (one kept in the USA and the other kept in Europe) which I race internationally; we spent the month of February racing in New Zealand. We also have several street Porsches, including a 2019 Cayman GTS, a 2014 TurboS cab, and a 1969 911T, which we restored over a period of 7 years.

I'm new to Porsche and Rennlist, but would like to join the Porsche Seniors. If you'll have me, any number will do.
I've been a car nut since since a kid. Back then I was infatuated with American muscle cars, especially my neighbor's '66 Chevelle SS. By the time I got to high school I'd shifted to English ragtops and my first car was a '66 MGB, which a buddy of mine rebuilt. While in college he flipped cars to pass time, so I got to drive a '62 XKE, various Vettes, an Alfa GTV and a Lotus Europa Special, among others. For the last 18 years my daily driver has been a '06 Mini Cooper S, which was a blast, better than it had any right to be for $22K.
Back in January I turned 65 and to celebrate the achievement of qualifying for Medicare I bought a Cayman. It was a very happy birthday. I'm looking forward to driving it for as long as I'm able to get in and out of it.
Dean.

Already have my number 69 for my age. Loved Porsche's since I was a kid. At 17 I was going to buy an old Triumph TR4 but my favorite car was always Porsche. Took my dad to the Porsche dealer and looked a 1972 911 S. The new sticker price was $9400 and my dad flipped out and said $10K for a car are you crazy! In 1974 I settled for a 1960 356 for which I paid $2500 which was insane for a car that was 14 years old at the time. Had to sell it a few years later when I couldn't afford the $800 intake valve repair it needed. Got $4800 for the car so I made a little money. Fast forward to 1999 when I finally had enough money and to think about another Porsche. Drove a 1997 993 but at the time I had a bad hip and couldn't comfortably use a clutch in traffic and who would buy a Porsche without 3 pedals, so I went with BMW 840 and then a Dinan 740i M sport. Just figured I had outgrown the Porsche and opted for performance with more luxury. I actually thought the Porsche was only better when breaking the law. Drove high end BMW or MBZ until I purchase a 2011 Cayenne S which I still own. I can say that it was a big improvement in build quality over the BMWs but it was the Porsche I needed not the Porsche I always wanted. Even with the nice Cayenne, not one time since I was 17 years old did a nice Carrera drive by me where I didn't think someday I am just going to walk into the dealer and pick out a perfect 911 for myself. Of course practicality, kids, the need to carry surfboards just over ruled my desire. Then a couple of years ago after a little health scare, I just decided to keep the Cayenne and I purchased my current daily driver the red GTS shown below. The Cayenne is my weekend beater so to speak for Costco, Surfing or carrying passengers or cargo, or for very inclement weather ( in CA so not often) when the AWD and ground clearance is advantageous, but the GTS is a perfect gentlemen's sporty daily. I plan to drive my favorite car at every opportunity without regard for resale, mileage or expense as long as I can enjoy it and climb in and out of it. I'll just keep it perfect and some day leave it to my kid or get buried in it. I can imagine it now, they prop up my corpse in the drivers seat and lower me and the car into the ground. Maybe even drive me to the cemetery in the car on the back of a flat bed for one last ride.
