So I will be #34. My first Porsche 911 was a 993 C4S, then a Boxter S and last was a 996 TT. Will be picking up a 911S Cabrio on May 14th at the factory in Zuffenhousen. I am 79 yrs young, so probably my last … but you never know.
So many cars, so little time. And my favorite to tell folks; cars, motorcycles, boats and airplanes, the rest of my money I wasted.

Hey all! Just a few thoughts & replies:
A little surprised at the response; 33 licensed member in a few days is more than I expected. I posted the original on most the 911 sites that we visit. In your spare time, check for any responses there & point them in the right direction to keep us all in one place. Thanks!

#004 - looks like you have graciously accepted your new appointed position - our unopposed Sec./Director of Membership
#009 - back in your teens? I’m callin’ brain fart! For me, kinda like the USMC Vietnam days, I cherish the time & comrades, but do it again? No.
#006 - Palooza sound great, but what is the weather in northern AR in Nov? In my youth, I used to do extended back pack trips on snow shoes Today, if it gets to 60*, I’m done :-)
#20 - racing memory - I still get to one or two every year, but to this day, the Can Am win of George Follmer at Road Atlanta in 1972 is the all time standout. The Porsche 917K just smoked MacLaren. He may be the most aggressive, fearless driver I ever saw live.
#069 with an asterisk- i have to defer to #004, the Sec., on the number, but sounds about right for you :-)
#020 & #021 - kinda jealous - with fond memories, miss the ‘70 911-T
#021 - reflections - I am sure almost everyone here pauses at some point & reflects on the events in there journey. Nice to recall the ladies, jobs, games, etc. Please do not think to a little off the wall with this one. At the decades of my life, on the birthday mornings, I awaken, and sitting on the edge of the bed, a wave of clarity & understanding unfolds before me. Ohhhh, is that what it is about! At 20, a little young to understand, 30, I took a few minutes to listen. 40, it was so strong, I think I physically felt it. 50 knocked me back in the bed. A lot more calm at 60. At 70, to a lesser degree, but the finish line came into view. Looking forward to the next decade as long as the kids do not try to take away the fob.

On that note, please remind me not to share to whole road trip story with my son. I did not like the expression on his face when I told him of sittIng at 160 on cruise coming across ND last year. Before someone calls BS, no brag, just fact. No reason to bs here …. I hope :-)

Sorry if I rambled a bit, but brain cells I thought gone lone ago suddenly awaken sometimes.

May I claim 42 ? I'm a hitchhikers junkie...

John OHara, age 67, Porsche 2023 992 GTS.

Still employed in engineering and computer systems. Definitely a proud American and a unapologetic boomer

Prior Bimmer guy too, an M550 and prior E39

Default please give me the next available #

Just turned 75 and celebrating 50th wedding anniversary, currently have a 992S manual. First 911 was a 991 base (google "the base is all you need" on youtube to see my car before pickup).
Salutations to fellow members

Honored to accept the appointment for this esteemed group
I’ll do my best to keep up. Corrections/edits/suggestions are welcomed!

It’s great to meet everyone and read a variety of background stories.

A bit more about me…my Dad was a car guy but sailboat racing was his first love. I grew up crewing for Dad, and helping with the family cars. Took auto tech in high school (I was the only girl in auto-tech). I just couldn’t stomach another year of Home Ec (cooking, sewing…). Did simple tune ups on plugs/points/condenser (remember the 70’s?) on our family cars. Cars were so simple. Swapped wheel sets (this was Buffalo NY where winter tires were a necessity). Then married a car guy.

We both had company cars our entire careers, and our first “splurge” was a 2004 SL55AMG in 2007. Fun, great-sounding V8! Then came a Lambo 560-4 as a present to me when I retired in 2011, FAR earlier than expected. Hubby didn’t see the Lambo in person until the truck pulled up in front of the house. I bought it in FL when I accompanied him on his business trip We kept it for 5 years and 20k miles. Lots of fun trips and memories (and a year of track events until we came to our senses).

Then a C6 Z06 (far more practical for the track). Then the Cayman R that launched the Porsche journey. The R is the only car I regret selling.

I became a track junkie in 2010. I also joined the track staff for almost 10 years instructing classroom, and in-car car control clinics. We also trained police, teens, and many fleet drivers for various companies. In 2017 I joined the PCA National HPDE team and became an Instructor Trainer. I go to various race tracks for different regions to deliver the PCA National HPDE Instructor classroom training. It’s been a lot of fun and I’ve met some wonderful people.

Through cars I’ve made some very close, life-long friends.

Hubby and I will celebrate 40 years of marriage next month! AND…we were high school sweethearts and go back a LONG way. It makes us “dinosaurs”, but we are okay with that.

I am over the age limit and would like to have #44, my wife's lucky number. I have always been a car guy. I started with American Muscle, went Japanese, then a little German and then back to American Muscle. I have always liked Porsche cars, but it wasn't until I retired that I finally got a 911. Thanks to my oldest son, who was really the catalyst for my first purchase (he owns 3).

Great article in the WSJ on Monday on 57 year old Rhode Islander Tom "T2" Thalmann who has put 700,000 miles on his 2003 911 Turbo.

I think this article nicely sums up our love for the Porsche brand.

Tom Thalmann wants to drive a million miles in his 2003 Porsche 911 Turbo—and he’s not that far off

I'll take #36 if available. Closer to 75 than I want to be but better than the alternative. Intro to PCars was 1965ish driving my then girlfriend now wife 1958 356A given to her family by her Grandfather. We put many happy miles on that until her brother parked it on a telephone pole. Bought used 75 S in 76 and spent several weekends @ HPDE at Summit Point. Good fortune enabled me to get inside deal on new, specced 1978 SC subsequently sold due to expanding family. Fast forward to 2019 purchase of Boxster Base which was very nice but didn’t quench the thirst for one last 911. Got in line Jan 2022, allocation March 2022, delivery August 2022. Used exclusively for pleasure trips to countryside/Carolina mountains.

As new requests come in for a membership number, I will add you to a list and then “LIKE” your post to indicate I’ve seen your request, and added you. In many cases you’ll need to scroll backward to see yourself on the list. Every so often I’ll post an updated list (to keep scrolling to a minimum).

For example, 1BDT was added as requested for #036. If you scroll back to post #46, you are now included in the list. If you look at the bottom of your post #55, you’ll see at the bottom of the post that I have “LIKED” your post.

Let’s keep ‘em coming!

Default Southwest Ozark Mountains in November

OP / #001 You wrote:

Believe it or not, the late fall weather in the Ozarks can be top drawer and in the mid-seventies. For a number of years, a group of PCA Nord Stern Region (Minnesota) members drove down to Ozark Lakes Region's three-day region event, Flaming Fall (+/- 810 miles one way). The event was held near Branson at one of the lake resorts. At that time Branson was not a year-around entertainment center; almost every venue closed around October 1.

The folks in that part of Missouri are really into Halloween, so the Falling Fall Saturday's afternoon rally / tour(s), with the Ozark Mountains winding roads, and the fall foliage, with the home-place Halloween displays, were spectacular. Eureka Springs is just below Branson, and now that town is where (on information and belief) the Porsche Palooza event is sited. If we can schedule and get into "the Palooza" as 2024 entrants, we will be there.

I'll take the next number (whatever that is). I'm 78 and on my fourth Porsche, an 89 928GT, 93 928 GTS, 2012 911 S, and now a 2015 991 Turbo S. This last one is a keeper. My first 89 GT was in 1993 and I got bit hard. There just is no substitute! Been a PCA member since 1994. I've attended Palooza twice and Birmingham will be my fourth Parade. I recently had back surgery and still recovering so I"m less active than in the past but I'm working to get back. I used to do all my own wrenching but the surgery has put a damper on that. I look forward to meeting many of you at Parade or Palooza.

I’d like 97 when we get that far. At age 70, I needed a new grip point to heave ho, in and out of my 997.1 Turbo. Much easier on the leather bolsters.
