Default Rebuilt vs new PDK

One of the guys in our group needs a new PDK. He can send his to ZF for a rebuild or buy a new one. Is anyone doing the ZF rebuild? Doesn’t seem like it because there are no refurbs for sale and plenty of broken ones sitting around.

What is the problem with his PDK exactly, and where are you located? Most common PDK problems can be fixed by Indy shops for a fraction what will cost shipping PDK overseas (and still need to pay for remove/install). We can recommend PDK indys in most states

It's a failed input shaft seal. A common problem. Repair by Indy shops is about 50/50. We've had guys do the repair only to have it immediately fail. The seal is very inexpensive but reported as only a temp fix.

I U know one guy that did the ZF rebuild. Not cheap, but cheaper than an entirely new box at 25k from PMNA.

I did the first ZF rebuild. A few teething issues but I would recommend it as the first marine up the hill but I think it is relatively smooth operation. Shipping cheaper now than when I did it. Frank Dahlman is the ZF contact in Germany. Do a search here and you should be able to find his contact info. He is very helpful.

You may want to call BGB first as I heard a rumor a few months backchat Z F may be approving BGB rebuild in the US.

The seal issue is usually bigger problem and replacing the seal doesn't solve the problem.

Cheers
