Could the GT4 replace the GT3?

Front engine V12s were always the sine qua non for Ferrari. The little mid-engine V8s were the high-volume, low-price entry models that initially weren't even allowed to be called Ferraris.
And then one day they became the models that carried the ultimate performance torch for Ferrari, the cars on which the race models were homologated. The track-day Speciales. And even so, the V12s still remain at the top of the price and exclusivity heap. The sportiest of GTs, or maybe the GT-est of sportscars. The client who wants the V12 Ferrari is not put off by the fact the V8 Ferrari has a faster Ring time or even possibly quarter mile (not sure if they do or not); he maturely acknowledges that he (or she) is getting the "best" Ferrari, as evidenced by it's price, and is not bothered by the little mid-engined ones running around the world's tracks.
Porsche could easily migrate in this same direction and do so profitably.

When the GT4 includes a multi-link rear suspension, then we can start considering the idea of it being a higher performing chassis than the GT3

Three Wheelin'
For Porsche, putting a multi-link rear suspension into the existing Cayman is relatively trivial. It is no different than their limiting of the engine that goes into the car.

I've heard good things about this mod, but not sure if it avoids all the packaging issues:

Porsche please listen and give us a fire breathing mid-engine monster! You can save...uh...the centerlocks for the 911 so everyone knows those are the 'better' model.
