Default Napa has Mobil 1 5w50 on sale!

Its $5.99 per quart and is usually $9.99 per quart. Highly recommended-even over the 0w40 and is Porsche A040 approved. Just picked up 10 quarts for my oil change on the GT4 this summer-stock up if you need it!

Thanks-I dont think I will use that much LOL as this only goes in the Porsche. For my other cars I run Rotella T6 (Twin Turbo Supra motor, GLK250 diesel and GSXR 600). For my old e30 M3 I run 15w50 Mobil 1 (thick-but been running that since 91 so if it aint broke...dont fix it)!

Is the 5-50 a little thick at the top end for street use?
My Idy seems to recommend 5-40 ??

No.

For winter months use the 0W40.

At the risk of starting an oil war, do most feel that 5w50 M1 is sufficient for tracked 9A1's? I've come to understand that ow40 M1 is probably not sufficient, or at least that's what I've read a lot on here, but most suggest fancier race-oriented oil such as Motul for track use. I have not seen anyone specifically calling out the 5w50 variant as not good for track, though.

PS: thanks for sharing. I got a case or two during the last sale over the winter, which I just put in my car.

I took advantage of this NAPA deal a couple of months ago.
Picked up a bunch of the 5w-50 and also turned in two rebates per household!

FWIW:

5w-50 Mobil 1in my .1 GT3 with 500 break in miles. 80 track days. Engine refused to die

5w-50 mobil 1 in my GT4 with 500 break in miles and 30 plus track days and engine over rev'd twice at day 10 and day 15 to range 6 (not by me). Engine refused to die.

Too much consternation about oil. Just use the proper recommended oil and it will be fine

M1 5-50 rules. On Porsche's list of acceptable oils. Would you want anything else in the 90-100 degree heat of the Texas summer. I agree with the 0-40 M1 in the winter too. I do about 6 track days and replace the oil. It looks fine with good color but you know there is viscosity breakdown. Many track days and no engine problems so far. Oil is cheap....engines are expensive.
