On the other hand....no one expected this level of mods on the 9A1 when the GT4 was launched so who know, maybe we will see the same on the 718 GT4 which will probably have a larger base of owners....as long as people need/want more form a new model the tuners/shops will find a way to develop products to address this need, and it looks like the 718 GT4 is headed this way based on all the complaints about a 4.0L with such a "small bump in power" from the 3.8L....people will want to take that 4.0L to the limit and who knows how much power was left on the table for the 9A2 Evo.
Anyway...are you upgrading your 4.0L now to 4.5?
Depends how holiday goes, anyone want to buy a couple pallets of dog treats for a good cause?

As soon as the new company turns a profit I'll be in for the the 4.5L but until then no new toys. I'm part way there already with the stroker crank, X51, gears, and lwfw so the bore to 4.5L is a no brainer. Plus, I think it's a safe bet Porsche isn't going to drop a 550hp ICE short geared manual GT4rs.... ever... so there's nothing to wait for from Porsche, might as well pull the trigger ASAP and enjoy it.

I agree, the 4L is all new so it's too early to tell where it will go. Off the cuff I'd feel confident there's an easy 450hp in there after the tuners get their hands on it, add headers + tune, dump the GPFs and you're almost there. Add to that the rumors of 450hp final edition GT4rs and Boxsters in the pipeline and there might even be a Porsche designed (if not approved) set of parts to upgrade the 718 GT4 to GT4rs spec....

What clutch can handle that power in a GT4 for the long term?

This one will do the job mated with ASCO LWFW. 800NM vs 560NM for the Sachs sports clutch which ended up slipping on my modified engine which has nothing like the torque of a 4.5L beast. The Sachs clutch does which comes in most LWFW kits has a friction disc diameter that is actually less than the flywheel contact surface. This clutch fully contacts the flywheel surface.

I have the same. It was a little tricky for the first hundred miles or so but either I learned how to drive or it broke in a little and now it's totally fine and I prefer the feel over the stock clutch.

Warwick, good to know and thanks for sharing the pics. However, this would be mostly a street car for me so not looking to do a LWFW. Is that clutch compatible with the factory flywheel or a non-lightweight one?

Sorry, but I don't know. Just call the company and ask them for a solution.

Hahahahaha, awesome! PM me your mailing address and how many dogs you think you'll be up to by Thanksgiving and I'll make sure they get something for the holidays!

How does a 981 Clubsport PDK handle this massive upgrade?
