Default Crazy Thought

While I've been at home adhering to the shelter in place order, from time to time crazy thoughts enter my head.........like, has anyone thought about what a GT4 would look like with a GT3 like fixed rear wing? For some reason I think it would look completely awesome.......

Ok, commence to destroying me.......

you have a point

I always thought the GT4 wing looked like something you buy from Pep Boys slap onto your Civic. Such is the era I grew up in

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the wing on the GT4.......from certain angles I think it looks awesome and overall the car is absolutely freakin gorgeous. I've just always been partial to the GT3 fixed wing, just me. Two different bodies obviously......does anyone have any rendering skills to put a digital GT3 wing on a GT4?

That's so funny .....I think about stuff like that all the time and my wife last night looked at me and said what are you thinking about ...(how would one explain this to your significant other) ...So i just said nothing "Porsche stuff" and she rolled her eyes and that was that . I am constantly having mechanical thoughts ..... i guess you need to be a real gear head to understand, better than having morbid , perverted , suicidal , unhealthy thoughts in my opinion....

I'm a car freak and my wife is exactly the opposite, could care less......all she knows is there's a bright yellow car in our garage that I take out all the time "Just to go for a drive"......the eye rolls are constant in my house too........

But I would seriously love to see a render of a GT3 fixed rear wing on a GT4........maybe I'll try and gin something up today........though my rendering skills are essentially non existent......

I think it would look great. I actually prefer the 991 GT3 wing over the RS wing for the same reason.

The GT3 wing would looks great and I agree that the GT4 wing didn’t seem really integrated with the overall design. But I drive a Civic Type R as a daily so my taste in wings is a bit suspect.

I was actually thinking how I can remove the rear wing altogether and just convert my car to a GT4 Touring. Maybe even swap out the buckets or sofas to make up some of the cost. I would love a GT4 touring

Done it:

Have to say I'm a big fan of the rear visibility. Blanking plates are anodized 6061 aluminum made by Jared Zakem (referenced in this thread); when I ordered mine he said there were 5 sets left. If you're not a fan of the black it should be easy enough to sandblast them then paint them whatever color you want.

The only thing to keep in mind here is that you're upsetting the overall aero balance since there's still the splitter up front (I did try throwing the Boxster Spyder front splitter on, but no joy when it came to fitment—I had seen that many Spyder owners were able to fit a GT4 splitter with no problems, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work the other way around). However, for normal street driving / just cruising in a straight line at highway speeds (and a bit, ahem, faster) I genuinely haven't noticed anything that would concern me (showing it corners at 100–120mph might be a different story).

Looks great. I'm not tracking the GT4 so aero balance isn't a huge deal. Also I think getting a ducktail extension or place the ducktail on the same area as the original wings. I guess things to play around with during this quarantine.

You could get the ducktail extension from RSS

They stopped making them for the time being. I called them a couple months ago to see if they had any maybe tucked away in a corner or something, and the guy I spoke with said they’re out of stock, and that they were looking at switching to a new carbon fabricator as their current one was way too expensive. So for now they’re perpetually out of stock.
