Default My new GT4

As the saying goes, there are many like it, but this one is mine! I received the car a week ago, but had to get through the work week before starting to enjoy this!

Just over 10k miles, and in wonderful condition. Gave the car its first wash and wax today before driving it for the first time. Just a trip with my wife to pick up dinner and back.

I've owned several Porsches in the past, my most recent being a 991.1 Carrera S. I sold my Ferrari 360 Modena to purchase this. And I absolutely LOVE it! Can't wait to spend more time learning and driving in the next week or so. Really glad I held out for the full leather. Feels very upscale.

Being the same engine as the 991.1 S but with less HP, I'm assuming a tune would be relatively safe to achieve similar levels of power?

Thank you for indulging me. Just can't keep the smile off my face. Think I'll go out to the garage and take another look....

I have had mine for nearly seven years, and I still use the same superlatives as you do. If the time comes that you want to get a better sense of the car’s true potential, I heartily recommend a Softronic tune. It’s a real bargain for the improvement it offers, especially between 3-5k rpm, where the stock setup lags. I was happy with my car before I did the tune and estatic afterward.

Did you get the Softronic tune without other upgrades (i.e. plenum, throttle body, etc...) or is the engine otherwise stock? I've wondered how much different I'd notice with a flash, but without other upgrades.

I got the Softronic tune first and noticed quite a difference. I later added Soul Performance headers, which made the difference even more pronounced.

I can't agree more. A Softronic tune completely transforms the car. Scott knows his stuff. Adding performance headers - catted or non-catted depending on your specific use case - would be the next performance upgrade I would recommend. The combination of the two results in a night and day difference. Personally, I have a Softronic tune with a full fvd m&m race exhaust off a GT4 Club Sport and a remapped throttle. I'm looking forward to getting to VIR this fall and see how it does against the 718s.

Pink line shows Softronic only. Plus 20 peak hp and eliminates the dips and plateaus. Red line is Tune + Street Headers, and adds another 12hp peak.

@NoGaBiker Thanks for the graph. Based on the numbers, this should mean ~ 51 HP gain at the crank to about 436 HP. My guess is a couple of more HP would be gained with race headers. I plan on getting my car dyno'd in the next few weeks and will post the results here, It will be interesting to see what the numbers are with a full race exhaust.
Also, my next engine mod is going to be an IPD plenum and GT3 TB, This should help with the loss of power at the top end.

I just bought a GT4 with a BGB tune, cargraphic catless header, and soul x pipe.

Any knowledge on the BGB tune vs the Softtronic?

If you really want top end with slight sacrifice to mid range, I would go with the 718 CS IM. The price is about the same as if you do the IPD plenum, GT3 TB, and dundon intake runners

you can also reuse this part when you decide to go 4.5L
