My car is in transit now- the shipping notice that the dealer sent me shows tires as Dunlop. GT3s apparently also come/came with these tires?

To prevent those 918 owners from flipping cars. Or so the story goes.

Interesting. I was offered a July build August delivery on a car I know was a 918 vip allotment. No 6 month wait.

Did GT3s arrive with different tires also?
I mentioned this a few pages back, but yes GT3s have come with these tires too.

And to be clear, the Dunlops in question are Sport Maxx RACE tires, not regular Sport Maxx. Major difference.

+1 I suspect this was a side deal with some "complexity" which is benefiting one or more parties that we don't have visibility to. The VIP program does not force taking allocations. So there is a reason why someone (the VIP, dealership, and/or both especially if they are the same individual) was willing to tie up $ for six months in order to have those cars sitting on the showroom floor and/or sold from that dealership at MSRP. In addition, it is two more GT car units sold to those VIPs out of that dealership. Multiple benefits across parties (PCNA regional rep, dealership, VIP and ultimate end customer at MSRP) other than tying up the cash for six months.

Settle down everyone.

Deep breath.

Dunlops are fine. Just as good as the MSPC2. Maybe even better.

Both are OEM tires on the 991 GT3. And both are perfectly fine, with only very slight variations in terms of wear.

Yes, our owner did this as well so that we could get an extra GT4/GT3RS allocation.
