“New” to us a CPO 2021 Macan S. Previously had a 2017 Macan GTS.

Very cool, so how do you think they compare?

I was going to ask as well! I have a ‘17 GTS and love it. Is the grass greener…?

Early days still, but performance difference is not huge. S ride is softer and the S “feels” lighter overall.
Miss the Sport Exhaust, but the S’s exhaust isn’t bad, just a bit quieter.
I think the Macan S will be a better all-around fit for us, especially on road trips up to Northern California.
I wouldn’t kick either model out of the garage, but I’m not sure the GTS is worth the $12k premium over the S.
I know others might feel differently.

Thanks for the report.
I am more curious about your impressions of a 2017 vs a 2022.

Obviously one is a GTS and other an S- but how do you like the glass haptic console vs the buttons?
Styling update an improvement?
Bigger screen and reconfigured A/C vent location…wheel design…ride on 21” vs 20”.
Does your S have the air suspension?
If not, is the ride better, worse or just different?

TIA

Do tell.
Mileage?
Symptoms?
Warnings, codes or a sudden mechanical failure?
Any out of pocket expenses?

Dealers still not repairing PDKs.
There is a thread on the 997 Forum about an ongoing private party replacement part research and development process.

Someone needs to fix the $20K bill that results an out of warranty failure (normally a simple sensor).

Yes, I'm going to post the whole thing on PDK reliability thread when it's all said and done, but here's what I have so far.

2017 Macan S, just over 65K miles.
It all started last September at 60K miles, first and reverse gear feels like they're not engaging properly when the transmission is fully warm up,
when accelerating from a complete stop, it will grind/chock a few times before finally launching forward.
Took the car to dealer, they keep it for two days and drove it 80+ miles, couldn't duplicate the symptom and found no code,
no worries, I know it'll get worse.

Fast forward to end of Feb, it finally throw an error message, I nearly jump for joy.
despite what the message says, it shift to reverse just fine, but when put into drive it stuck on 2nd, manual shifting doesn't help neither.
Luckily I was only two block away from home at that time, and the error is gone once the car was cool down and never appears again, but the symptoms still exist.

Back to the dealer it goes, this time they're able to pull an error code and confirm it's the mechatronics failure.
Now this is where I should mention I bought the 8 years/100K miles extended warranty from Porsche,
and by the sound of it they're perfectly oaky with just replacing the mechatronics itself, however they ask the dealer to pull a fluid sample from the PDK,
(I didn't ask if it's from the clutch fluid or the gear fluid, I'll ask my SA to clarify later)

and they found the fluid to be burnt and found debris in it, so they decided to replace the whole PDK unit.
(and yes, the PDK clutch fluid was replaced right before the 4 years/40K miles mark, supposedly... more on that later.)

That's the latest I have as of this morning, the PDK is supposed to arrive on Thursday and I'll have my car back early next week.
The warranty that I bought for 4.3K will cover the tab except my $250 deductible, money well spent.
And I got a brand new base Macan for full two weeks, it got only 74 miles on the clock when I pick it up,
I always think the base model actually handles better without the weight of the V6, but I'm not a fan of the EA888.

I’m so impressed with my better half’s new T I’m seriously thinking of getting a GTS. Only problem is it doesn’t look like I can get one.

I genuinely had no idea how good the Macan is.

The 2021 S does not have the haptic console…just lots of analog buttons the way God intended 🙄.
It does have the larger PCM screen and restyled A/C vents…both positives.
The wheels are 20” Turbo rims, so a little more tire sidewall than 21”.
Our Macan S does not have the air suspension, which may explain the more gentrified ride.
I think the S definitely rides smoother than our previous GTS. But that’s what I was expecting, so no surprise.
I really like the Macan platform.
