Best CTEK charger for 2021 GTS
I'll be away for a week or so at a time this winter, and although the Macan is garaged, I will want to connect it to a charger to prevent battery rundown. I've used a CTEK in my previous two Porsches. I am looking at either the CTEK 40-206 MXS 5.0 4.3 amp charger and 12V maintainer, versus the CTEK (56-353) Multi US 7002 12 volt charger. Is there an advantage of one over the other? I did use the MXS 5.0 on my 2016 981S without problems. I am planning to connect via the clips to the positive and negative leads located under the hood. I'd appreciate your suggestions and why one charger would be preferable to the other.

I use "CTEK - 40-206 MXS 5.0 Fully Automatic 4.3 amp Battery Charger and Maintainer 12V" on my '19 Porsche and '20 Audi vehicles. I like that it has an AGM battery mode. I can't tell you the difference between the two but the MXS 5.0 has done a fine job so far.

I have a similar battery maintainer as the CTEK you are looking at, it works fine. The ECU tuners here on Renn ask for higher amperage like the PRO25S. Personally I regret not spending a little more and buying the NIB Porsche tender on eBay this summer. It's probably equivalent (if not made by) CTEK the 7AMP Multi US 7002. Every time I use that small one I have nightmares my garage burns down. Shops will say that you need 10-15AMPs and those small 2-7AMP units are best suited for a scooter... Sorry, I am NOT paying $500 for a battery tender.

away for a week? I wouldn't bother. You will be fine.
If your battery dies over a week in your car, you need a new battery. First cold day it is going to leave your stranded.
I do put all my vehicles unused vehicles on a tender for 3+ months.
2021 GTS? You're well covered.

Is anyone connecting their chargers through the cigarette lighter rather than to the posts under the hood? If so, CTEK makes several such connectors, but on Amazon, mad says they won’t fit my car which makes no sense. Which CTEK lighter socket connector are people using for newer generation 2 Macans?

I'm using this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just turn the ignition on to the accessory position then back off and the plug will stay powered.

I don't think it matters if you have it plugged in before you switch the ignition to accessory, but I do think you need to have it plugged in before you switch the ignition to off. Once you've done it one or two times it makes sense and you will see the lights on the plug confirming you have power going to the socket.

I drive into the garage, turn the car off, open the door, pick up my CTEK plug, put it in the cigarette lighter, close the door, and plug it into the power source. None of all this other stuff you have talked about. As long as it is within that period when power is still being supplied to the cigarette lighter(probably ten minutes) I am good to go.
