I just picked up a CPO 2019 Base 2.0, 17000 miles:
Silver
Biege/Black interior
Premium Plus package (14-way heated/cooled seats, Pano roof, Bose, LDW/LCA, rear heated seats, Nav, Dynamic Lighting + )
20" wheels
ACC/Porsche Active Safe
Heated steering wheel
Roof rails
Paint Protection film on the hood.

This will replace my 2010 Audi S4...I will miss the manual transmission...and the horsepower.

Congrats. However, I don't feel that anything is cheap about a base Macan. It may be low on HP. Otherwise, purchasing parts and accessories will cost just as much as a GTS or Turbo variant.

I was just fanning the flames of the "why didn't you buy a V6 Macan" club....nothing cheap about the Macan.

Optional PASM and air suspension aside, is there any significant difference in the suspension setup between the base and the S?

Depends on the year. For a 2019 or newer, the front and rear anti-roll bars are the same between a Base and an S.
For a 2018 (and older) the front anti-roll bars are the same for a Base, S, GTS or Turbo. The rear antiroll bars are the same for an S, GTS, or Turbo, different than for a Base.

Don't know about the shocks or springs or bushings...still researching that.

Interesting info, I'm on the fence between a '17 or '18 GTS and a Turbo. The Turbo seem to be a slightly softer focus and 10mm higher ride height than a GTS, but based on what you're saying if the rolls bars are the same on the first gen cars, then shocks and valving look to be the variable. I wonder how the Turbo with AS in drop mode equates to the GTS.

I am coming from a 2019 S3, was considering a S4 or SQ5 but am leaning towards a 2020 base dealer car. Has 5 years warranty so I’m thinking it’s worth the less hp.

Curios to hear how you like it in comparison.

I’m replacing a ‘18 S3; just sold it a few weeks ago. I test drove a ‘21 Macan S and it felt more solid than the S3 in the handling department but the engine/PDK wasn’t what I expected from a Porsche. It felt under powered. JMHO.

I had a 2018 a4 prior to the S3. I loved the comfort of the A5\4, power of the S3 but the S3 just felt too small and just didn’t drive as nice.

Of course thinking the S4 would be the best of both worlds. I don’t keep cars long so thinking this great deal on this base which is a 2020 dealer loaner with 8k and 5 year warranty is a good start into Porsche.

The base isn’t underpowered by any standard. I’m just a Motörhead and just expressing my opinion. It will make up for it in handling. Porsche has that dialed in. All that matters is that it works for you. Take the plunge and enjoy!

The S left you disappointed? I feel the S is quick but it needs to be in sport to feel quick, otherwise the PDK is trying too hard to save gas. Also, buy a Cobb for the S and its a different animal!

Congrats to the OP on the cheap new car (lol), the base is a great car and I would also get a Cobb tune on the base.

The '21 S isn't a slow SUV but it left a lot to be desired for me. My '22 GTS arrives in a couple of months and I'm looking forward to that. Maybe I'll tune it.

Congrats and welcome! I came from a 2018 Audi S5 SB and got into a 2020 Base Macan thinking I wouldn't miss the V6, but...

I picked up the car last night, the only disappointment is the Bose stereo....but that was expected. Muddy, no real bottom end.
The B&O in my wife's 2017 Audi SQ5 is much nicer sounding.

Anybody add a Burger JB4 tuner to a 2.0?
