Default Next track skip button for CarPlay on Macan before 2022

I know one problem always bother all Macan owners who have pre 2022 model. Which Is that the music skip button (programmed diamond button) for CarPlay and android auto .

Funny thing is that diamond button can be programmed for changing next or previous track but only works for Bluetooth and radio station. It does not work when you are in CarPlay android auto. And we have found that cayenne and Panamera don’t have that problem.

Obviously, Porsche did realise this bug and released the new steering wheel with an extra new skip button on newer steering wheel.

However for owners who have the older model (before 2022), the only way to skip track in CarPlay or android auto , is to use the soft button in screen.

The problem is that if you are in navigation mode and try to skip music in CarPlay or android auto, then you have to get out of the map view and go into music view before you can change track.

There is no point to replace the whole steering wheel just because of a skip button.

The good news is that, there will be a solution very soon for those of you who have pre 2022 macan. The factory diamond button can now be activated to change track in CarPlay and android auto mode.

The small retrofit on existing steering wheel will enable that button to behave as it should. So for all macan from 2018 -2021 can get this installed to enabled that factory diamond button to work in CarPlay and android auto mode.

After a long wait, Finally, this issue will be resolved and it will work as factory.

for install, it is very easy, all will be plug and play takes about 15mins

For activation : just need to long press of the return button on the steering wheel and your diamond button will start working as next track in CarPlay or android auto mode .

That sounds great!

My quick fix was a Bluetooth media button and it works very well for forward and backward skipping. I can't see it when driving so it seems close to factory.

WIth that, I can keep the diamond button to summon surround view/park assist for when it's needed quickly.

I guess you have pared an extra Bluetooth button with phone. nice trick.

instead of adding extra button, better to get factory integrated solution, and the diamond button suppose to work the way it should.

but small box for major difference I think it is worth it .

I think I would still reserve the diamond button for surround view when quicky executing a parking maneuver or driving through tight areas. It's easier than going through the screen when there's a sudden need.

Where does that canbus box go? The dealer won't like that for warranty work, another thing to remove before taking it in under warranty, should there be an issue with the infotainment system.

it will be inside of the steering wheel, and it is very small add-on which won’t be detected by any diagnostic tool. All it does is to allow the diamond button to work as it supposed to be. Nothing else

You know it! https://a.co/d/2B5xoFO

Mine's three years old and no issues. Its always connects automatically, just takes one push of the button to wake it up and then it works with the second press. It can adjust phone media volume as well.
