Discussion: Have you tuned your Porsche (Why or Why Not?)

Cobb 91 octane tune on our 2018 2.0 and it just started puffing a bit of smoke on warm start. Tune has been running for 30K+ without problems until the recent smoke.

On my GTS I feel like the only tune I might want is one that reprograms the shift patterns. This car is terrible with short shifting if left to its own devices. In order to prevent the car from short shifting, you either need to mash the throttle or switch to full manual shift. What I really want is to drive normally, but prevent the car from upshifting so early and often.
Sport mode doesn’t achieve this and sport plus is too aggressive for basic cruising.
No need for more power, but better shift logic would be great, anyone offer anything like that?

I would NOT even consider changing the "TUNE" of out 22 S, or the previous 19 S
The MACAN is just fine the way it is... PLENTY of power
As far as the change of the BUTTONS on the center console PORSCHE you screwed up The new panel SUCKS
and is dangerous...on the old panel I could feel where the "switches" were....the new panel forces me to look down at it,VERY POOR THINKING

No APR tune available for my 2018 GTS.
But to be honest I wouldn't use an APR tune because it requires me to go somewhere to have it tuned.... (And if map changes are needed I am going back)
I need to be able to flash it myself.
My RS3 is using Unitronics because I could flash it myself....
I'd also like to add to all the people that think their Macan has enough power...
Tuning isn't just about making the Macan faster, I rarely use full power, but what tuning does give you (That is more important to me) is responsiveness.
I would rather drive a tuned car that is slower than a stock car that is faster, because once tuned the car comes alive. it responds so much quicker to your inputs.
Isn't that why you bought a Porsche? You wanted a dynamic driving experience better than most other brands?

it looks like apr is getting big increases on the 2.0 base motor. My car is out of warranty. Can anyone comment on their tuned macan base? Looks interesting!

Review: Burger Motorsports JB1 Stage-1 for 2019 2.0 Base | Porsche Macan Forum
Probably about 10HP or 15HP less than an APR Stage-1 ECU tune, but the 0-60 time decreased by 0.7 seconds, to 5.5.

I would likely go with APR if I was out of warranty but I do like the JB4 for its multiple maps that can be changed on the fly and real time data/logging using my phone. For example, there is a +4, +5 and +6 psi tune. There are also tunes that emphasize more boost in the low vs. high rpm range and vice versa. I can change those up depending on ambient temps or my type of drive (city vs. highway).
There was a YouTube review of an S and they posted 30-70 mph times. I compared a log to that and it was within a couple tenths in 95 degree heat. I'm pretty sure in cold temps it would match up. While not as effortless as an S (no replacement for displacement), tuning gets you to that level of quickness without the additional nose weight for better handling.
Add some aftermarket thicker sway bars on top of that and you are at near perfection in terms of base car pricing value vs. overall performance.

I currently have 991.2 GTS, it has plenty power for my need so Im not considering it but I'm looking for Macan T. Love everything about it but wish it has more power around 300 hp mark for perfect daily use in SoCal (pretty much 90 mph is norm in highway).
Only hesitation pulling trigger on so-called driver focused Macan, T is the power since it's not like other T models (911 or 718) with lacking power and weight.
If there's a tune that safely provides around 300 hp and no worry on warranty (I certnaly buy 75k Macan T and wait 4 years to tune), I'll def. tune it.
In my very biased opinion, S or GTS, they all have plenty of enough power for its duty (while everyone wants more but its compact SUV, not 911 that has a different duty in weekend) but its so clear Macan T is lacking only on the power department. So if APR can resolve the issue (adding power + keeping warranty issue clear), Macan T will finally deserve T nameplate.
Can you make it happen?
