Why are there only these few exterior colors for Macan?
Why does Porsche only offer such a poor selection of exterior colors for the Macan? Compared to the other Porsches, the Macan has the worst selection of exterior colors. The only decent color for me was Chalk (that is probably also the reason most Macans I see are in Chalk) but I had to pay $3k extra for it. In the past Macan had some nice colors available which were unfortunately discontinued. There are so many nice color, why do they have to offer only few colors and many of them have to be these weird controversial colors? I would really like to understand their rationale for the current color selection.....

Well, Porsche offers a quite large selection of other colors -- but the $13,150 price is daunting.

I agree but look at the color pallette on the road: White, silver, gray, black. That's like 80% of everything out there. I ended up with a white Macan but I bought CPO. I wouldn't have ordered it. Thankful for Papaya, Gentian, and Chalk choices!

There are 12 colours available on the configurator not including another 50+ available via PTS. How many colours do you need? Seems like plenty of options with something for everyone...
By comparison, we recently put a deposit down on a MK8 Golf R for my wife and there are 3 colours available. Black, white, blue. That's it.

There are actually only 9 colors available. The two different tones of Black and white dose not really change anything on the fact that these are black and white (Is not like different tones of blue which depending on the tone completely changes the character of the car.) The PTS is not really a thing for the average Macan customer, so I don't really consider it as a choice. When you see it this way and are willing to spend extra $13k you can repaint any random car in any color you want and for $13k you should get a pretty decent repaint or wrap job.
I see also a difference between a golf R and the Macan. There are around 100k Macan sold worldwide (30k in the US) while only few hunderd Golf R are sold in the US. I think last year was there biggest record with 1600 sold cars.
Even with 9 available colors, besides black, white, silver and grey, the other colors are sort of controversial. Colors like Copper Ruby, Papaya, or gentian blue (why do they have to choose one the weirdest blue tones available) there are only very few people who like these colors. I have not seen one single Copper Ruby or gentian blue and only one Papaya and believe me in LA there are lots of Macans..... Even chalk seem to be not liked by everybody but I think majority of people like it and that is the reason porsche is taking full advantage and charging $3k for it. BTW, majority of the Macans I see in LA are in chalk.

I actually think the color selection for the Cayenne is much nicer than for the Macan. I wish we would have had all these colors available for the Macan, The fact that they kept it for the Turbo GT so slim is typical porsche. They think when someone can afford to pay $250k ish for a suv, he/she wouldn't care to pay extra $13k for a more unique/customish color. They do the same for their 911 GT3 RS or Dakar and here they even offer the PTS plus (for $43k.....)

Montego Blue on the new Cayenne is actually really nice, would love to see it on a Macan. For me at least the colour options are just fine and my GTS in Gentian Blue looks perfect.

As noted, most of the cars you see on the road today are either Black, some kind of White or some Grey/Silver.
Even Porsches, very few Papaya or Mamba and I don't think I've ever seen Ruby
We have a Carmine now, the last one was Night Blue Metallic, and if the same color choices are available in 2025 it'll be Gentian Blue
Certainly $13,000 for PTS is outrageous,,,But it's PORSCHE They can make a $ 70,000 vehicle and make it $120,000 with a few clicks
WHY BECAUSE THEY CAN

I am running into the same issue right now. In the processing of configuring a Macan GTS for the wife and she does not like any of the available colors. I even tried asking for PTS but the dealer said it's not possible now. We are probably just going to stick with Black and go for a red interior.

Sorry to hear that but I have been there. Just a friendly advice: Don't take black unless you have your personal detailer, who cleans your car every week. Black is a PIA to keep clean. If you want a color which comes close, take their grey and put some ceramic coating on it. Much easier to maintain and I think looks decent too. Good luck!
