Default Rear hatch beeping

Can the dealer mute the rear hatch beeping with their PWIS system? Most annoying. Can it be muted in the vehicle settings somewhere?

With PIWIS or another coding software yes. I don’t believe we can do it within the settings

as an aside. Am I the only one that the beeping doesn’t bother?

Yes. Some have reported the dealership refusing to do it b/c of "safety". I believe it actually says it can be disabled by the dealership in the Macan owners manual. I have not asked my dealer about it but plan to. It is a bit obnoxious.

The beeper can be muted with an appropriate scan tool (PIWIS, iCARSOFT, Autel, X431....), or the beeper speaker can be easily unplugged, if the rear hatch trim panel is removed.

Thanks. Do you have a photo of what panel you are refering? I like the speaker unplug idea as I suspect my dealer is one of the safety don't touch types.

Follow this to remove the rear hatch trim panel.

The speaker is a round thingey, on the drivers side, just to the left of the hatch control module, with a small 2 wire plug. Just unplug it.

I have an Icarsoft V3 scanner. Can you please indicate how the beeping can be disabled? Thank you.

Old owner's manual references dealer adjustment but language missing from recent manuals. Usual dealer excuse for not doing it is "safety".

The several seconds of beeping doesn't bother me. After I had the car for a couple of months I never really noticed it anymore. So much for the "safety" aspect. Too many nanny warnings and we tend to ignore them.

Thanks.

Do I need to remove the fuse before I pull that panel? Will the rear hatch try to close if I pull down on it while removing the panel if the fuse is left in?
Are those rear beepers used for any other warnings (like lane change assist, collision warning while parking, etc)? I do not want to disable those.

Sounds like a dump truck to me.

That brings up a flashback for me. I was on my motorcycle and stopped behind a dump truck. For no reason he started backing up without looking, and I was able to back pedal barely enough to get out of the way. That was before reverse warning beepers. So, as long as my car isn't trying to run me over I will tolerate those things.

Had a similar experience. Stopped behind a garbage truck in my car on a road with a very tight bend. The truck stopped, and when he realized he could not negotiate the turn, he throws it into reverse and I see the reversing lights come on and those beepers. Before I could get my car into reverse he slams into the front of my car, then procedes around the turn like I was not even there. Had to chase him down.
