Default Extended Warranty for Used (not CPO) 2022 Macan S

I have a newly purchased 2022 Macan S with about 26k miles on the odometer. This wasn't a CPO purchase, but a used purchase from a BMW dealer (that had a Porsche dealer in their network). I'd like to purchase an extended warranty but I'm unsure about reliable, trustworthy options. Any thoughts or recommendations?

It should still be covered by OEM warranty (4/60) so you ought to be fine. Call or visit your local dealer and find out the in-service date so you know when it will expire; afaik, you should be able to extend the warranty up until OEM expires.

Hey @wasntme , you've got a little bit of time before needing to pull the trigger on anything. You can reach me at tgibson@highline-atuos.com or (855) 924-1333 if you have any questions or would like to see an example contract.

I signed up for one of these. I turned out to be a piece of crap. Do not ever consider using Safe Guard. They wouldn't even cover the most obvious fault in the failure of the timing chain cover. They wouldn't cover the failure of the exhaust valve. Furthermore, they won't cover anything. Thieves!

I don't know what you purchased - but based on your comments of lack of coverage support, it should NOT be put in the same category as a Fidelity warranty.

I have first-hand experience with a Fidelity warranty covering a Porsche. Additionally there are many others here in the Rennlist forums that also have had and have Fidelity and are very satisfied with the support, coverage, flexibility, and response.

Fidelity platinum exclusionary warranty gets the best reviews I see in the German car sites.

Having said that, the Fidelity platinum warranty contains “related damage” language which means collateral damage from a covered failure is not covered by the warranty.

Examples of this are destroyed vacuum system (not covered) caused by a water pump failure (covered). This is the case with 9Y0 Cayenne regarding water pump failures. Another example is Mercedes M17x 4.0TTV8 oil vapor separator failure (covered) which causes crankcase over pressure and failed rear main crankshaft oil seal (not covered).

In both examples given above, the “related damage” (not covered) is equal to or greater in cost than the covered damage. The related damage in both cases costs almost as much as the entire warranty premium (price).

In summary, there is no warranty like a manufacturer’s warranty. All warranties have cracks and crevices for the insurance company to hide in and deny coverage.

Caveat emptor in extremis.

I'm sorry to hear you had a rough time, but Safe Guard is a completely different company.

I will be picking up a 2017 Base Macan with 30k miles right now in a few days. All information on the service records indicate that this was only maintained by Porsche and all services are up to date if not before the recommended service, ie:30k and 40k services were already done. Any way I can see the different levels and costs for a Fidelity warranty? My biggest concern with buying the Macan is the fear of PDK failure. I can only guess that given the vehicle history that the only reason this didn’t get resold as a CPO was it was traded in on a non Porsche and not at a Porsche dealer. The service records on the Macan are better than my previous CPO Cayenne I purchased 5 years ago with 52k miles.

That email doesn’t work. I took out the “l” after autos, so hopefully it gets to you.
