Anyone have wiper blades that skip and chatter (mostly on the "return" stroke)?

Mine do this and it drives me nuts. And for those who will ask, my window glass is not coated with ceramic; car is nearly new at 1700 mi, 22 GTS. Replaced the wipers once already with Porsche OEM replacements. Put RainX on and its better but still does it. I compared 911 wiper blades to Macan blades and the 911 blades are much beefier (they look like they might fit the Macan?).

I am using RainX now to avoid wiper use as much as possible, but I have never owned a previous car that did this new out of the box with new wiper blades.

Nothing helpful for me to contribute to this conversation, but the wiper blades on my 2023 are laughably bad and have been since new. It’s like they are from a 30 year old Golf or something.

Can't complain. Two winters, 9.5k and wiper's work just fine (incl. the rear one).

I am guessing there is some treatment on your windshield. Try some Dawn on the glass and the blades.

Wax and soap from car washes gets transferred to the windshield and wipers and causes a film. Use windex on the glass and rubbing alcohol on the blades and it should go away.

Dont use the same towel that you use on your paint on your windshield.

Thanks for all the replies, but I have cleaned multiple time with Windex and DI water. Car has never been in a car wash, unless you count the dealer's detailing process (they also use DI water). Had the car ceramic coated but specifically instructed them not to coat the windows. Strange that only the driver's side wiper does this, and only skips on the return stroke, so that kind of eliminates a coating on the glass. The wiper blade seems to be a lot more fragile than the blades on my 911 were. Maybe there is some aftermarket replacement blades out there I can try, but should not have to fight this on a new expensive Porsche product. Applied RainX multiple times and it seems to help but does not eliminate the chatter. Also replaced the blades once already with OEM ones from Suncoast. Only thing I have not tried is a Cerium polishing compound but that seems drastic on a new car.

Have you tried adjustment/replacement of the wiper arm?? Just sayin'...

The best solution is to completely clean your windshield glass. There are two products that will work well.

1) Bon Ami - available in many stores or on Amazon. A little bit of it on a wet sponge. Work across the entire windshield. Then go over it again with a microfiber cloth that is dampened with clean / clear water.

2) The product shown below. It will completely remove any residues that may be causing the skipping problem.

Once your windshield is clean, you should seal the glass with a product such as Adam's glass sealant. (Link below.)

Well, I wouldn't use Bon Ami on my windshield. It is a mild abrasive made out of feldspar.

I've used it countless times on many cars.

It will not scratch glass.

You might try "claying" the windshield. Then use something other than windex to clean after, I suggest Sprayway or Stoners Invisible Glass. Clean the blades themselves with Isopropyl alcohol, I use the 91% stuff you can buy at the local drug store.
The fact that they only chatter in one direction leads me to suspect the blades themselves are the issue.

Well, good on you, glad that it works. Just FYI, from Bon Ami website: "Bon Ami Powder Cleanser is not recommended for windows, mirrors, or other glass surfaces."

Well, WillinEvergreen - I guess that in the case of a random idiot that tries to use the product dry on glass - their lawyers are doing the typical lawyer thing with the precaution.

Used properly with water, it works and won't scratch a windshield.

Claying is great for removing built up road film and grime. It won' remove any mineral buildup or water spotting on the glass.

The comment about the wiper blades being an issue may be the case. They should have a graphite film on them in order to prevent skipping. If that film is removed, the blades will probably end up creating the chatter effect.
