Default Panoramic Moon Roof Pros and Cons

I am putting the final touches on a few different 2024 Macan S builds and can’t decide if I should add the Pano roof. I never have the pano open or even the shade so I left the pano off my build but two different sales people are telling me I’ve gotta add it back on if for nothing else resale value. Would you guys and gals agree with these salesman or beg to differ?

BMW pano roofs are know rattle traps…how are the Macan pano roofs?

Appreciate the support!

No roof, I barely use mine. Buy the car for you, not the next owner, and certainly not for the salesperson. No issues with mine but there are known issues with the sunroof water drains.

No issues with mine. No leaks or rattles.
But I barely use it, so probably a box I could have left unchecked.

I rarely use mine, and generally only in the evenings. Not big on the sun pounding down on me. I have had no issues with rattle of drain lines. But I do like it.

We skipped the sunroof on our 19S and went for quiet and more headroom. Got the noise/thermally insulated option as well and instead of the pano roof we specified the full alcantara/race-tex roof and it looks amazing. We didn't spec a single option with consideration to the next owner, just what we wanted. 86K miles down the road with zero issues so far and we intend to keep it forever. We have an '02 GMC Yukon with 250K miles so we are long-term owners so we spec cars for us and no one else.

When/if you go to sell yours, there is someone out there who will think it is amazing as is. Good luck!

I find that I use the roof in all its positions, depending on conditions. No problem with leaks or noises. In the hot summer, the shade does its job. It might be different if you live in an area that has brutally hot weather, but I don't think that MN is one of those.
There is also the argument that the roof adds 100 lbs. to the weight of the car, so there's that. If you care.
I would never base a buying decision on how one option or another would affect resale. I got what I wanted and realize that cars are not investments. I realize the Macan has great resale value and that certainly helps.

I find the pano helps light up an otherwise dark (black) interior. Rarely open sunroofs I’ve had on cars though and never have had issues with rattling.

I'll admit I like my sunroof a little more after seeing some similarities to the 997 Targa:

Everyone makes very valid points.

I have a great spec. I highly doubt Porsche is going to reduce the equity in the vehicle over a sun roof if the rest of the cars immaculate like mine always are.

Do you guys more agree or disagree?

Buy what you want, salesman be dam$#d. BTW, the profit margin on options is greater than on base car.

How tall are you/your passengers? I went with no sun roof because it added a significant 1.5-2 inches of head room in the second row. We aren't exactly tall but our 6 ft tall family and friends commented that they have no issues sitting in the back

When we were shopping for a car that needs to fit my 6ft4 (195cm) tall son, we were looking for a no-sunroof Macan (and found one). Of course resale is lower (since you paid less for the car), but probably not at the same percentage (but better).

The sunroof robs adds additional headroom from tall passengers, but it brightens the interior a bit. Choose what you like.

Equity? Macans are not investments and the sunroof isn't exactly free so you save on the front end. Don't listen to sales staff, they just want every car to have the PP+ for a higher margin. I didn't have one on my first one and don't have it on the '23 S I just bought.
