Default Current Macan owners not interested in a Macan EV?

I’m on my second Macan (2015 S and 2019 S) and have zero interest in an EV. So, it’s either buy the last ICE Macan or move on from the brand. Tending towards moving on. Anyone else?

What objections to the latest model ICE Macan do you have? The 2.9TT is a sweet mill.

EV Macan. NO.

1. Range - I get 500 miles in my 19S on the highway, new EV does not
2. Charging Infrastructure - non-existent on the roads I travel
3. Heavier - more road damage and tires replacement
4. Garage/home fire hazard
5. Add electrical line in garage
6. No one at the dealership can tell me in 30 seconds what I have to do to charge at different locations and what plugs/chargers/charging options are. It's like they are clueless
7. Zero Emissions, really? They run off coal and child labor
8. Exhaust sound - non-existent
9. When will local/state/Feds start a per mile tax due to loss of gasoline tax revenue to pay for roads (that will be damaged more due to heavier vehicles)
10. Time is money - If I can't access chargers without going more than 1 mile off the highway and re-charge to full in under five minutes, why?
11. Higher cost

Maybe in 10-15 years, but not now.

I don’t have any objections. Just some concern about buying the last year of a discontinued car and wondering about the availability of parts 5 or 6 years down the road.

Not interested in an EV yet. I know there’ll be one in our future…but waiting for battery technology to take a few leaps, and infrastructure to improve.

We like our 2021 Macan GTS. It’ll be out of warranty at the end of this year. We’ll replace it with something else (likely different brand, non-SUV). If we can’t get what we want, we’ll keep and drive the Macan until ???

We bought a Cayenne last year (built Aug, finally delivered Nov after long hold for missing chip). Hubby loves it even more than the Macan. We don’t need two SUV but at the time we needed another vehicle and it was the only build we could get. The Cayenne is a keeper. The Macan will be replaced eventually (end of this year or whenever we figure out what’s next).

I would also shy away from the Macan EV because it’s the first in the series and I’d rather get one after it’s well-established (assuming our future EV will be a Macan). Too soon to say when we’ll get an EV or what it will be.

I'm sure I'll switch to EV some point. I like ICE engine but wouldn't say I'm ICE diehard fan. I just felt like current EV tech is just like first get Blu-ray players. They're new tech but not refined yet for me to switch.

My wife and I have a 2022 Macan S and ordered a base Macan in January to replace her 14-year-old 180,000-mile BMW X5. I have no objections to EV's, but right now they simply are not practical for us given the large number of road trips we take (320-mile round trips from where we live to O'Hare airport to fly to Seattle for visits with our grandkids; 900-mile round trips to Detroit to visit our younger son and his wife when they have days off during their medical residencies). EV range and charging infrastructure are simply insufficient for doing this routinely. My plan is to replace the 2022 S with a 2026 ICE S (and yes, Porsche will still be selling the ICE Macan in the 2026 model year - see the latest Panorama Street Talk column about this). It's an older platform, true, but still the best car in its class by a large margin for driving dynamics and fun. Porsche could tweak the output of both the base 4 engine (people have tuned that engine to get over 400hp) and the V-6 (Audi already gets 444hp out of this engine), keep improving the tech and suspension, and it would remain a class leader in driving dynamics for at least a few more years. I wouldn't be surprised to see the ICE version of the Macan hang around until 2028. Maybe replacement parts will be an issue after 2035, but probably not - there will be enough ICE Macans on the road for OEM vendors to supply parts for a long time even if Porsche doesn't.

Eventually, battery chemistry advances and the build-out of charging infrastructure will solve the EV issues for us, and we will go down that road, likely with Porsche's offering. But I don't expect that to happen until 2030 at the earliest. Maybe by then I'll also have an EV 718 for sunny summer weekends . . .

It's not that I dislike the EV, but we're going with a 25 GTS - I will be happy with the last of the ICE Macan's.

I have zero interest in EVs for a combination of all the reasons others have already stated. I'm not "anti EV." They just don't work in my life right now and at the current state of EV technology/infrastructure. The CPO 2020 Macan S I bought last year, objectively, meets all the needs I have for a second vehicle to my beloved 911. If I were smart, I would keep it and drive it into the ground. However, I am tempted to upgrade to a GTS, and initially was considering ordering a new one. But now I think if I do upgrade it will be to another used example. I have a huge mental hurdle at the $100k price point for a Macan. I naturally start thinking of what else that kind of money can buy, especially since I don't need the back seats to carry people/pets/cargo etc.. I would probably prefer a coupe or a sports sedan, but there isn't anything out there that excites me enough to stray from the Macan (M3 is sadly hideously ugly to me; Audi S5 I honestly doubt would be that much more enjoyable to drive than the Macan; Panamera is too much of a luxury cruiser to me; MB cars are simply not appealing to me at all; and on and on). If I am going to spend $100K +/- on a Macan, I have considered instead getting another used 911 (something totally different than my GT3, like a cabriolet) because at that price there is zero justification to drive something that doesn't really interest me.

As it relates to the Macan EV specifically, I frankly think it looks awful. Other than having the Taycan headlights and the typical Porsche raised front fenders, the rest of it is very generic and could pass for any other appliance EV being sold today. The aero / range constraints and need for a massive battery in the floor, I think, really hampered the designers. Look at the refreshed Cayenne as a counterexample of modern Porsche design without such constraints.

Folks at the dealerships talk about how many problems the Taycan has had with software. Cars sitting for months trying to get them working. I have been trying to get Porsche Connect issues resolved for a few years for my Macan. That's just an inconvenience on small things. Imagine your whole car not working.

I can easily buy parts for my 1991 964, so I'm not worried about future availability for Macans which have been sold in huge numbers compared to my old 911.
I don't ever see an EV in my future. I know, never say never but some huge change would have to occur before I went that route.
