Default 911 to Macan GTS

I currently am driving a 2015 911 and am thinking of trading it for a Macan GTS. Major reasons are more utility and easier entry and exit as I am 74. Love the 911 but maybe it is time. Has anyone made a similar move and are you happy or do you have regrets? Thanks for any thoughts.

I traded my '07 911 for my Macan Turbo for similar reasons. I just kept needing a little more utility and wanted to give up as little performance as possible. I checked all the same performance options that are part of the GTS package, plus torque vectoring.

Do I miss the 911? Sometimes, but not very often. I still get enough grins from my Macan that I have no regrets. Plus it's nice to surprise people who think its just a lowly SUV.

I have a similar dilemma. I have a 2006 C2S which has been my daily driver for the past 10 years. My kids don't fit in the back any longer, so I need more utility. Here is my shortlist choice....

1) Keep C2S and buy a 2016 Golf R (pretty awesome from what I can tell from a test drive)
2) Trade in my C2S for a 2017 Macan GTS

Both are about same $ out of pocket.

What would you do?

agreed-- fortunate to have a machine turbo and a GTS--both put smiles on my face--thing about the macan is it is just amazing how the car handles given it's configuration--and that turbo has power all over the band--

I made this move. I traded in a 2011 911 C4S for a Macan S. Saved 13% tax on the Macan here in Canada as my 911 had a higher value than the Macan S. So it was an easy move.

My reasons were similar to yours. I needed the utility and it wasn't feasible for me to have 2 vehicles simultaneously. Maybe I'll purchase another 911 down the line. I do miss it.

I'm now trading in my Macan S for a GTS.

Glad I am not alone. Traded in the Turbo S for a Macan GTS. But ... I did also trade in my BMW DD for a 458

I went with the Macan GTS for my DD. Good car overall but compared to the Q5 the rear seats are not adjustable vs 4 way on the Audi. The Q5 has more headroom and a lot more leg room in the back along with more rear storage.

Other than that the Macan beats it in everything else. Noise, luxury driving feel, working brakes, sound system and etc..

I am following a somewhat similar path with my new GTS just arriving. I've enjoyed the S and it's been so good I have questioned my move to the GTS but I think in the end it's the one to have. They are great cars.

On a side note for all of missing your 911, pick up a used Boxster for the evening and weekend romps and you will not regret it. Crazy fun cars!

I think the Macan is a better DD. I have a 2013 CTT and I have considered the GTS given Apple CarPlay. The CTT is a better DD, but the 0-60 time is almost the same as the 911S. It is amazing that these SUVs are that good. Good Luck

I too have sold my '13 C2 911 after I had new Macan S for 4 months. The Macan is that good!
We have put 34,000 klms on Macan in 15 months and 911 only had 17,000 after 2 years. We find the Macan goes anywhere with all of us, the 911 not so good for 4 people in it.

Apple to oranges. Two different models 110%

Of course the familiarity both being Porsche's, but to compare the two head to head is ridiculous no matter what the sales guy tells you about having 911 DNA.

Macan = great sporty crossover

911 = great SPORTS car

Well, she didn't come from a 911 but my wife has a Macan S and loves it to death... it's a really nice little package that is fun to drive and provides some utility.

if you have the wherewithal to keep both, a 911 and a Macan might be all the vehicles you ever need. unless you need to haul a lot of stuff fairly regularly. i have a 911 GT3 and a Macan Turbo, among a couple of other cars, and while i'd like to drive the GT3 everyday, the Macan sees more work because of its versatility (plus i have to admit that i've grown tired of rowing gears everyday).

if you only could drive one car, the Macan would be my choice - much as 911's have been my favorite car for my entire life.

I'm considering a Macan S as a DD. May let my wife use it and I'll take her '07 Benz E350 as my DD ... but no way am I giving up my 997! I'm finding that I need some utility as I'm constantly needing to take stuff home from Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and it would add some off-road activities to my lifestyle.

I am moving from a 991 C2S to a Macan S. The 911 was not my DD but as we just had our second child, I find that I have much less opportunity to drive it. Looking for the Macan to serve double duty as both my DD and "fun" car!
