    Hi Ad van der Lee,
the 4.7 liter engine was sold a year or more ago. Ill see about finding out where that ad is placed and fix it.

    thanks,

    Hi Mark,
i see you still have that 4.7L engine up for sale. You offered it to me a long while ago. It seems very tempting to me. Problem is, I live in the Netherlands. I am trying to find out what shipping would cost me via DHL. To find out the shipping cost, I need to give the location from where the engine needs to be shipped. Can you give me size, weight and location?
Pleas also give me some details about the engine. It should be in pretty good shape (near new as you call it). Has it been overhauled or is it original with little use? What comes with it? I mean, how complete is it?

Hoping to hear from you soon,

    Ad van der Lee

    part 2

The hood vent looks good, becuase it seems to be so in fashion these days, mainly due to the downforce contribution. I dont mean to be too critical of it, because obviosly you have made some effort and perminant changes to the hood. However, you could change this to a positive, by going back to the normal intake air sources, and using this for frontal downforce. Ill have to go back to the pics to see if the rear vents can be used for venting the engine heat out, similar to the vents on an Aston Martin. If there is some distance from the rear edge of the hood, then they might do this as well.
I actually made mine a little larger this season, and I think it must be good for getting some of that heat out of the engine compartement as well.

If you are not doing some hard core racing, I wouldnt worry much about it. Even if you are, the differnces are going to be very minimal.

keep me informed. You know I like this stuff!

Actually, venting the air coming from the engine compartment that has the higher pressure air , will help neutralize the pressure zone at the hood inlet, but never really do anything. However, if you seal it off except for the vents, you will be sourcing air from the vacuum area of the hood. the hole will change the vacuum at that opening point, mostly by the shape disrupting flow, so you could have some stagnation that could drive the pressure up, but it generally will always be lower pressure (lower than ambient pressure. not absolute vacuum. ambient would be 14.7psi, so under the car is near ambient, at the nose is more like 15psi , at the base of the windshield is also 15psi, and the hood area we are talking about would be 14psi, as an example of relative pressures.)

    Hey Mark!

Thank you for the input on my hood vent I have great respect for you, and what you have done to the Holbert car. Everything you say about the aerodymics around the hood sounds corect, but remember that I`m not finished with the scoop yet. I plan to seal it completely from the air going in the engine compartment, and lead the cold air directly into the intake tubing. So there will be no venting from the pressure zone under the car.

You are talking about a vacume over the hood. Don`t that meen a lower pressure than under the car(wing)? Lower than 1atm. yes, but absolute vacume?

Do you think my louvres will be effective in lowering the ambient temp. in the engine compartment?

    Thanx

you have to drop the bell housing cover, but i have a hole I cut (a hatch) to inspect and adjust. it takes a few min that way. adjustment when you drop the lower bell housing consits of making sure the "H" gaps are only about 1mm. they are probably too large (ie 1.5mm) and the clutch is dragging on the input shaft, making it hard to put it in 1st or reverse, right?

sounds like a very interesting concept . I wonder if the drilled rotors do a similar thing. (due to the air being ejected at the holes through the surface area) also, dont the pads barely rub along the rotor surface doing the same thing on a bigger scale?

    thanks for the note
