Funny to see some of the local Philly "crew" surfacing up in these threads. My car is currently the GT silver car waiting at Mainline and I'm in CC above Parc. Given your other cars, what are you going to do if this stretches out for a while? Just curious as I've had some similar cars (R8 (v8)), 996 gt3, 996 gt3 cup, 599, CLK Black series etc etc and have no idea what I'd get if this thing doesn't pan out.

first I agree that it would be "nuts" and frankly I am not certain that my dealer is even correct. I need to make a call to Porsche to double check on the accuracy of what I was told.
Second Porsche would be responsible for any injury that someone sustained. If one of the two people who had their car burned down broke a leg scrambling out of their car Porsche would be responsible for that injury. In fact if Porsche "knew" about the defect but placed the cars into commerce nonetheless they would be liable not only for the fair compensatory damages but would most likely be on the hook for punitive damages as well.

Dean, I am not a lawyer but work with many and I know one of the lawyers at a major law firm that represent Porsche.

My point was only this, if someone did get hurt or killed and Porsche knew there were issues with the engine but took a chance, Porsche in the US would expect the family of the person killed to sue Porsche if they did not offer appropriate compensation for the life of the person. Say the person was a 42 year old lawyer at a major law firm and had 20 more years of life and salary to look forward to, my guess the family would have every right in the US to file a suit if Porsche did not fairly compensate the person. ignore the value of the car I am talking about the value of ones life when Porsche could be viewed as being as fault. That was what my point was.

I was just at my dealer and I posted that production halted on 2/14 and is still halted today and has not moved. Odd. I don't doubt your dealer is just seems "nuts" with some getting built like yours and mine still sitting in the same position as 31 days ago. Good luck.
