    Hi Chris,

I actually forgot about that thread. I always mentally prepare myself for the keyboard warriors to come out of the woodwork whenever I ask a question here.

If I remember correctly, I was asking if it was worth the extra money to upgrade the heads instead of paying to have them rebuilt. I think the consensus was no it's not worth it.

I didn't buy the 9M heads and opted for a "traditional" rebuild. 180,000 miles on the clock and the internals look good aside from the usual suspects like exhaust valves and valve guides. The cylinders still had crosshatching and only one of the bearing surfaces showed any wear. I thought that was pretty impressive seeing as though this was the first time the engine has been opened up.

I did however decide to upgrade to a mill in 3.9L cylinder and piston set rather than reinstall the original Ps&Cs.

I hope you can find a reasonably priced 964 or 993, the market has been kinda crazy.

    -Pete

    Hey man,

I see you haven't posted in a while, but I wanted to reach out anyway. I read the thread you started on 9M Billet Heads and was wondering if you ever went ahead with that project? There were some pretty negative comments, but I think a lot of folks seemed to be under the impression you were just looking at parts in a catalog and picking them yourself vs. what you said you had done; namely spoken to Colin and gotten a price for a complete package of parts designed to all work together. You just sort of walked away from the topic, but I thought a lot of the criticisms were overly cynical.

I don't currently own a 993, but I'm shopping for either that or a 964 right now, and definitely plan on hot-rodding it, and doing as much of the work myself as possible... so I was really curious to hear where you ended up.

    Cheers,
    Chris
