I have an 84 distributor you may borrow, however I doubt that is your problem. If the rotor is new and the cap not cracked or the copper contacts not severely pitted from arcing, the mechanical operation of the distributor will not create a miss. If you see carbon tracks inside the cap that will cause a miss. A bad plug, wire, or terminal ends will cause a miss. These are electrical reasons for a miss. A dirty or partially clogged injector can do this. An injector leaking, or a bad injector connector will also. If the vacuum line is not in good shape or for some reason the vacuum advance is not working it will not cause a miss but will limit reaching full rpm and acceleration will seem to stop. A burned valve, valve seat, worn guides, leaking valve oil seals can cause a miss. The mixture leaning out because of inconsistent fuel pressure can cause it.
