    Hello Greg,

I appreciate you replying in my thread about my 16 year 20k miles timing belt change question. ( https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...lt-change.html)

I'm strongly considering buying the 928 after seeing interior and exterior pics, I'll need to drive 5 hrs to check it out which I will be doing hopefully this Sunday.

The owner says the last time it was running it had some lifter noise ( concern or normal, apologies I've only owned a 84 Carrera 30 years ago, and I've always wanted a 928), I think I have him ready to let me start the car not sure he'll let me drive it.

My question is vague, I'm thinking of having the car transported to you to have you go through it, my biggest concern is budget, lets say it needs a engine rebuild what would I possibly be looking at cost wise vs TB,waterpump etc and everything else it could need.

No hurry to have the work done but I would need to get the car on its way to you if possible.

    Thanks

    Joe Atencio

Hi GregBBRD - need your assistance... I'm looking for a good experienced 944 porsche mechanic near costa mesa and I saw a 2017 posting that mentioned your name!... are you still available to work on 944's?... I need someone to install a torque converter in my 1985 (early model) 944 automatic... the rubber actually rotted out on the old torque converter after 33 years LOL... have you done this procedure before?

    Hey Greg,

Have read a bunch of posts you have contributed with respect to the 928 tensioner. I have an 81 that I am working on and the boot is toast, I also noticed it only has 25 discs in it and from what I have read it should have 35? The history of this car is unknown to me so any suggestions on the tensioner system would be appreciated, I see you developed a collar to accept the bigger boot as the small one is NLA?

    Cheers,
    Jeff

    Greg,
Greetings. My name is Craig Schiff, and I'm the MainePorsche guy with that odd and sudden transmission failure. I haven't posted in some months for various reasons, but now I have returned. If you could look at my thread I would be grateful. Yesterday I checked the Operating Pressure and it was 8 kPa not the 16 it is supposed to be. I guess there was enough pump pressure to suck the reservoir down on visual, but apparently not enough pump to allow for operation of the transmission. You had made mention of a pressure relief valve failure that could be an obscure cause of the problem (this was before I posted the Op. Pressure values I have). Have a look at my last posts or PM me. I would be grateful for I don't know how to proceed yet. I was hoping the pressure was good and it was the shift regulator valve. Please have a look and help me with this. I think I know where it is going to lead...I would only trust one of your rebuilt units.
    Thank you,
    Craig Schiff
