Hi there, I have been reading posts from the past and have noticed you know a bit about tuning with a mafter burner, I have a pretty highly modified 86 951 with a mafterburner, I tried to get the car happy all summer, I was wondering if I could come to you for guidance this spring when I bring her back out on the streets.

    HeY, sKi.

Are you still in the business? Looking for some rods - long ones, extra hard and durable, that can last forever, you know the one that keeps going and going with any problem. I need it for my car.

Can you give me a call at 703-675-5676

    YOURS TRULY,

    Hi,

sorry for disturbing but I am searching for Pauter, Carrillo or similar quality rods for a 2.8 ltr. 951 conversion.
I heard you might still try to sell a set (or know some who do)?
    Grateful for your reply.

    Best regards

    Niels

I did a few sets with Mahle, when I heard Tom was going to quit making them. LR now has them. There is one set in the classifieds from Sam Grant, $950, he also has a block for sale. Sam got a set from my second run, thest have ferroprint iron coating, not sure if has 100.5 or 101, tolerance is .038mm. Jon Milledge also got 4 sets of these as well. It wasn't anything against Tom, I just like experimenting and my partner in the race car, did experiment.

I know you said your machine shop is one of the premier Porsche machine shops and I certianly don't know all of them but I can tell you that they've never been mentioned in this arena or other P-car forums(944) with regards to Alusil work.

The Kokeln turbo kicks like a mule from 4k on, I can't believe the low HP numbers it put down when it was used in the European magazine story, I think they were running a low boost setting. These bigger turbo's need to run higher boost to get the power down. Mine seems to run the best at #20 boost with sunoco 94. You said the sport turbo was smoother, is it a larger slower spooling turbo then our club turbo?
I got my 951 in 1997 and have watched these lists and tuners web sites and things have really changed from my arc2 controled set-up. still happy with mine though.

That was a Kokeln turbo, still on my car, no - the sport is a completely different turbo. It's nice, I've done two kits for friends but it's smoother, where the Kokeln hits harder.

Bret,I thought you may be able to answer this ... I have the LR club turbo you could get with the 363 hp kit a few years ago, I noticed they no longer sell this turbo with the kit but now it comes with a sport turbo ( 340 hp now with out the cam ) . Anyway is this sport turbo the same as our club turbo... just wondering . With the set-up i have ( LR club turbo , maf, #55 inj., 3in exhaust , #20 boost ) i blew the doors off my buddies 405hp ZO6 , i pulled him so bad from 3rd gear on that i thought he missed a gear ! Anyway he was upset and amazed at the same time.
    Thanks in advance, Mark
