    Thank you, Matt - your current method is what I have been doing.
    I might try the threshold method, which I have seen and wondered about.

    If you have it set to record anytime the MXL does, it will do what you are experiencing. You can set it to turn on/off based on power and then only to record when it exceeds an acceleration (G) threshold of low (.2), medium (.4) and high (.8). It's explained better than I can type on page 18-20 http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...manual_100.pdf

    I have mine set to record with the MXL and then when I download, I look at the file size and delete the small files and keep the big ones. In windows 8 it tells me how long the file is so I can see that some are only a minute (which isn't any driving).
