    Hi, Larry,

Well, yes and no. It's currently at Gateway Classics on a 90 day consignment that ends on 2/15. At the time, I was approached by a Gateway representative with a "no charge" consignment offer. At the time, my wife and I had six cars and two motorcycles and while I didn't really want to sell the GT3, it was getting very little use in order to keep the mileage below 40K in the event that a serious cash buyer materialized. The car comes home on 2/15 with no plans to sell.

The Gateway ad doesn't mention that it was damaged in what appears to be single vehicle road accident back in 2009 with moderate damage to the left rear. This should have disclosed this in their description but did not, which I feel is disreputable. I also feel that they have significantly overpriced the car considering the accident history, which is disrespectful to the typical GT3 buyer.

Anyway, if you need any honest information about the car, email me at jabo964@charter.net

    Hey bud,
Random question: Is your 997 GT3 for sale in Atlanta by chance?
Sorry to bother if this is not yours.

    Thx -Larry

    Hi, Andy,

I would highly recommend Goldcrest if they do PPI's - I assume that they would since the majority of their customer base are GT3 owners. They do a lot of race car work and the owners have by far the most extensive experience supporting and crewing top GT3 race teams (Brumos, Flying Lizard, Farnbacher, Jack Baldwin) and DE competitors of anyone in this area. Most of the other shops that I've used in the past or am aware of like Franz Blam and Jack Lewis, specialize in air cooled Porsches.

Here's a link to Goldcrest's website, ask for Bob or Steve. I dealt with Bob when my car was there, very nice guy. http://www.goldcrestmotorsports.com/

If they don't do PPI's, I'm sure they can refer you to a good shop.

    Best regards,

    Jack,

Car looks fantastic. Thanks for the info and your contact information. My searches typically take a long time as I much prefer to buy local cars that I can check out personally as well have inspected by a shop I know and trust. On that point, would you say Goldcrest is the best for a PPI or are there other local shops you like/trust. Thanks again.

Jack - Love your GT3! My family and I moved to Atlanta last summer from Chicago. I own an '08 C2S and was looking at 997.1 GT3's before I found out about my job transfer. Now that we're finally getting settled in a home, I was thinking about resuming my search. Problem is I live in Virginia Highlands - land of speed humps and rougher roads. I'm not sure where in Atlanta you live, but I'm curious if you've had any issues with the ride height while driving on the street. Back in the Chicago suburbs, everything was super flat and while quite boring to drive on, I knew I wasn't going to damage the front fascia on those roads. I'd love to hear about your experience around town here. Thanks for your help.

Hi Jack. I was reading thru some old posts and followed your widebody conversion. I am interested in doing something similar with my 1986. I was going to have my car taken to holt for a respray estimate anyway figure now would be the time to do any body mods.

I researched some brands mashaw gt racing and looked at tre motorsports- wish they were local!

Are you ever at any local atlanta events with your car? Would love to chat and take a look at your car

    Hi, Kenny,

Norbert Franz, who maintains the Turbolook Register in Germany recently obtained the corrected M491 production numbers for the USA and RoW cars from Porsche AG. See the Rennlist thread titled "SOLD: 1986 Porsche M491 “turbo look” Coupe", post # 69 for the list. There was an earlier list that had been published some time ago that contained grossly incorrect figures. Norbert indicated that the list he recently published is, in fact, correct. BTW, the list I referred you to is for cars that PCNA imported into the USA. The RoW list can be found on the Turbolook Register website: http://www.turbo-look.de/index-en.php

My TL cabriolet isn't for sale at the moment...I assume you are thinking of a different one. But thanks for asking!
