Hi Macster, i hope you are well, lately there is a noise coming from the rear passenger side and it sounds like a metallic blade spinning and hitting something like the following post from another member, any idea what it may be?

I Hope i have put the link correctly,

    Thanks

Mr MACSTER, I was Intrigued to read https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...s-4-5-6-a.html
P0300 & P0303 pop up on the PIWIS 2 I'll pull the coil and plug on cylinder 3 and replace,
slight fluctuation of the revs needle at rest engine never cuts out,
you said [ QUOTE ] ( I think I can make a PDF copy of misfire trouble-shooting and if so I'll send you a copy to refer too.)
do you have a trouble shooting list of the normal state of the engine to check against with the PIWIS 2 for 997 engine timing, fuel trim, fuel pressure, air MAF ref etc should be,
so if you can help with an engine state check list that would be wonderful thank you.

    Hi Macster,
I have seen quite a few of your posts and would like to obtain your opinion on my situation. I have a 2007 Porsche Cayman 2.7L with 45k miles that is making a knocking noise only when load is applied upon acceleration the knocking is heard. Upon deceleration (even at higher revs), no knocking is heard. And the engine idles fine without knocking. Brass shavings in oil filter upon last oil change...

This is what the engine sounds like:

    Thank you!

    Hi Macster,

I posted this but was interested in your opinion as I have seen you reply to similar posts. I found some very small pieces of only aluminum in my oil filter during last oil change. Further checks found some larger pieces in the oil pan (only aluminum). Details and pics are here:

    https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...l#post15849499

I was wondering if the pieces in the pan could have been there (broken off when the motor was newer) for some time and piece or pieces were picked up by the oil pump and pushed through the filter. Other than that, wondering if the car is safe to drive or is there anything else I can do to assess if this is a more serious issue.

Lastly, yesterday I noticed a rhythmic tapping sound, lower side, drivers side at cold idle. I think it might be a loose spark plug from the cylinder inspection. Will check this weekend but just want to provide a complete picture.
    Thanks,
    Scott

Hoping for your expertise, since you've driven so many miles on your Porsches. I had a check engine light for a camshaft solenoid, brought it to my Indy to get replaced. Next day, on a very cold morning (0 degrees F), after starting car, oil pressure light stayed on for about 5 seconds. Oil pressure gauge stayed at zero during this time, but gradually started to rise and the light went away within about 5 seconds. Same situation the next 3 mornings. It used to hit 5 immediately after starting when cold, but now it was only going to about 3-3.5bar and would not go higher, even with high revs. I brought it back to INDY and he replaced the Oil pressure sensor, which did not resolve. He mechanically tested the pressure and it had good pressure at idle, but not as high as he'd like to see when the revs were 3K+. My next step is to change oil/filter/drop pan this weekend and have a look. Have you experienced anything like this before or have any ideas? Thanks!

I have developed a misfire on the 4/5/6 bank after replacing a cracked head (p0300 abd p0304/5/6). Not the cat or the downstream o2 sensor, not the solenoid either (swapped sides and CEL didn't follow). I suspect it has something to do with the head rebuild like the lifters maybe you mention in one of the threads. Can you send me the misfire trouble shooting PDF? After resetting the CEL it take about two days (drive cycles) for it to appear again. Blinked three times once and stopped. Hasn't blinked again when it comes on - just a steady yellow CEL.

    Thank you!

I saw where you mentioned a DIY for a Boxster clutch replacement. Is that something you could share?
